Renee & Dan
Renee and Dan wanted their wedding to represent them and what they love, so they chose a country wedding with a huge amount of DIY to add special touches to their day. Their vintage inspired Western Australia wedding was full of many sweet, special touches, and Simone Addison was there to capture each lovely moment of their day.
Renee remembers how she and Dan met, “We first met in ‘twin club’ when we were toddlers (he’s identical and I’m fraternal), however we obviously don’t remember this. We then met again in high school, but it wasn’t until the year after we finished school that we realised we couldn’t be apart again…”
The groom and his groomsmen wore funky, blue, vintage-style jackets, with brown leather elbow patches, which were paired with a crisp ivory collared shirt, soft tan chinos, and brown leather belt and shoes. They finished their wedding day look with a soft, patterned, white bowtie. This look matched perfectly with the style of the wedding!
Renee’s gown was by Alfred Angelo from The Gown Gallery. Of her wedding dress, Renee tells, “My gown was ivory with a sweet-heart, sleeveless neckline, and low back with large buttons and bow. I finished my look with some sweet little wrist length vintage gloves. I loved my dress, as it was a bit different and totally fun! It excited me every time I put it on and felt right!”
“Our ceremony was truly something special to us. It was the moment the rain disappeared, and the atmosphere was still and calm. The feel of it was intimate and relaxed. We had all the people that meant something to us share this special moment in our lives. The groom’s sister, my now lovely sister-in-law, read a special reading “Marry Your Best Friend” by N’tima, and this captured most of what our relationship has grown to be and what we are all about.”
Of their photographer, the bride gushes, “Our photographer, Simone Addison, was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. Simone and her partner made our photo session super enjoyable! They were very professional, but at the same time friendly, relaxed and creative. They helped us to be creative with our photographs by using the gorgeous rustic setting to our advantage, and following us into the glorious Karri forrest and orchards next door. Our whole wedding photography experience flowed with ease. Simone was so committed that she actually got into Fonty’s Pool itself to take a risky shot of the bridal party all lined up on a thin ledge out in the water! We had photos taken under the stars later at night too, which captured the true glory of our special day. We couldn’t be happier with the quality of our wedding photographs!”
The couple held their ceremony and reception at Fonty’s Pool in Manjimup. “We fell in love with the venue as it had a special feel to it. We’re country people, and the venue provides a gorgeous outdoor setting which captures the fresh green country feel. We got married on a lovely wooden deck that overlooked the natural pool and beautifully manicured gardens. The whole place had a natural and friendly feel to it. The greenery contrasted beautifully with the jarrah timber of the open undercover reception area overlooking the garden and pool. The owners, Kelly and Jeremy, were quality, stand-out people that have equally wonderful staff. Our day felt organised, and fell into place perfectly. They were extremely accommodating and genuinely lovely people.”
Renee and her bridesmaids endeavoured to incorporate many DIY elements into her special day, which completely added to the vintage inspired theme of the wedding! “My bridesmaids and I were busy bees. We collected and removed the sticky labels from around about 200 different shaped bottles. We then dried, primed and spray painted them gold to work as centrepieces on our tables, which were grouped together with a range of white flowers in them. We also collected an extremely ridiculous amount of lollies and chocolate to mix and place inside thank you jars with labels on them. We also made decorated glass hanging hearts to hang from the surrounding trees. My bridesmaids made these gorgeous lace decorated jars for tea lights to also hang from the trees. We made a couple of rustic signs and collected a range of vintage props (candle lanterns etc), that we managed to refresh and bring back to life.”
We danced to ‘Green Eyes’ by Coldplay, a song we have enjoyed listening to many times together that has come to be something that takes us back to each other.
Congratulations to Renee and Dan on your beautiful day! Thank you to Simone Addison for sharing this lovely wedding with us.
