Freya & Liam
I love the idea of Freya and Liam’s intimate Coogee Beach wedding. The couple wanted a day that with just a few, celebrated their love of Australia’s beautiful beaches and bright blue skies. Freya and Liam chose This Day Forward Photography for their wedding photography.
Freya tells of the couple’s chance meeting. “We met in a bar in the town where we are both from. I was about to leave with my friend because the music was terrible, but we said we’d stay for one more song and that’s when I saw Liam at the other side of the bar.”
Freya remarks, “We wanted a small, intimate and very casual wedding with minimal fuss and stress! We’re both from the UK and loved the idea of getting married here so it’s a little snapshot of this time we’re spending in Australia. We both love the coastline and the stunning views and do a lot of running along its the headland at Coogee – (it) seemed like the perfect spot!”
“We had photos before the ceremony, which was great because it calmed our nerves beforehand. We walked down the aisle together as my father is passed away and neither of us is traditional in that sense.”
Freya chose a long sleeve gown from Stevie May, explaining, “It ended up being quite a last minute decision and I had two to choose from in the end. I found a dress from Stevie May and loved it for its simplicity and not being too bridal. Because it was a low key wedding I wanted that reflected in the dress. I felt really comfortable on the day.”
Dee Weisner officiated the ceremony, the bride remembering, “We wanted it to be informal and not too long. We had 10 guests so it was really intimate. The celebrant did a reading and we wrote our own vows to add our own personal touch.”
“After the ceremony, we had champagne and canapés in the sunshine.”
Freya notes, “My favourite part of planning it was probably the flowers and sorting out the playlist for the day with Liam. We had a few cocktail nights at home getting that into order!”
Of their photographer, Freya tells, “Will Hartl was great and has a fantastic creative eye for candid shots and capturing the light. We got a great selection of beach shots and some of the greenery around the cliffs so that mix was lovely. He made us both enjoy the experience and relax into it.” The couple celebrated with their guests in a private room at The Coogee Pavilion.
