Sarah and Alex
Sarah and Alex planned their wedding to be just three months after the arrival of their second baby. The beautiful Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens wedding of these two high school sweethearts taking on a vintage feel and captured beautifully by photographer Averie of Studio Something.
Sarah wore a two piece outfit – her top from Review with a tulle skirt by Silver Sixpence. She explains, “I was pregnant with our second child in the months leading up to the wedding (Bub was three months at the wedding) so a skirt in my usual size was ordered from Silver Sixpence and a top to match was found in the weeks leading up to the day. I have always loved vintage style and a tea length skirt also had the practical advantage of being off the ground and out from under everyone’s feet.”
The day’s celebrations were held at the Royal Botanic gardens with the celebrations kicking off in the Palm House. Sarah tells, “We had been on several early dates and later on had family days out in the Royal Botanic Gardens, so it was a place of significance for us as a couple. Alex proposed in the Gardens and it felt like a natural choice to have our wedding there too. We were so happy with our choice on the day. The Palm House also works well in case of wet weather, which took stress out of the lead up to the day!”
Sarah walked down the aisle to Nick Cave’s “Into My Arms”.
Jessie Cacchillo officiated the ceremony. Sarah remembering, “We wanted a simple, honest & relaxed ceremony in front of closest family & friends. We each chose a close friend to do a reading of our choice. Alex chose a segment from The Thief of Time, by Terry Pratchett, and Sarah chose some lines out of Anne’s House of Dreams, by L.M Montgomery.”
“Jessie our celebrant was a calming presence on the day and the ceremony was perfect.”
Of their photographer, Sarah remarks ,”We were really happy with Averie from Studio Something. We had a meeting a few months out from the wedding and felt confident it was all taken care of. We loved the photos taken on the day!”
Designs by Booshi styled the floral arrangements for the day, the bride remarking, “The flowers by Booshi were amazing & received many compliments from our guests. To be honest the best part of planning was choosing vendors who were familiar with the venue and who made the planning process easy & drama free. So we could focus on the newest addition to our family! Thanks again to our vendors.”
Guests enjoyed a lunch reception at Botanic Gardens Restaurant. Sarah telling, “We loved having our two children with us on the day. We had lunchtime wedding to suit the children & to enjoy the garden setting. Then we continued the celebration with champagne and cheese plates with some friends & family back at our apartments!”
Sarah remembers, “Our first dance was to Turn Me On, by Nina Simone. Alex made the playlist for the reception, actually 3 play lists, one for the canapes and arrival, one for during the lunch and one for dancing. We have listened to the playlist a couple of times since the wedding and I love how it reminds us of the amazing day we had!”
Congratulations on your marriage Sarah and Alex! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you also to Studio Something for sharing today’s wedding with us!
