Brittany & Adam
There is such a romantic feel to sweet historic homesteads like the one at today’s wedding. Today’s romantic Summerlees Estate Wedding is everything you want in a little weekend away to celebrate a love story. Crawling roses, wide open fields and plenty of space to dance the night away. Brittany and Adam worked with photographer Lauren Campbell to capture their wedding.
Brittany fills us in on the story of how she met Adam. “We met at Adam’s brother Cain’s birthday dinner. I had been friends with Cain for a few years but I had never met Adam as he lived in QLD. I finally built up the courage to talk to him and then at the end of the night we exchanged phone numbers as he was leaving the next day to go home. We spent a few weeks texting and calling one another when I boldly decided I would fly up to QLD to visit him! First time on a plane by myself I cannot believe I did it now but I am so happy I did.
When he proposed Adam “worked” Saturday morning (so I thought!). He actually had gone to Castle Hill to pick up my ring. Once he got home we headed down the beach as it was so hot! We pulled up at our local beach and Adam says “Lets go to a different one this one seems windy”. So we went to Austinmer beach (my favorite beach down our way) we pull up and Adam said “The the colour of the sand looks funny”! I replied “What is wrong with you? this beach is fine!”
Now I look back he must have wanted EVERYTHING to be perfect. I was sun baking while Adam was building a sandcastle as he always does. He told me to come and look at his sand castle but to close my eyes. When I opened them it was a big love heart with 2015 underneath it and Adam was on one knee and asked me to marry him!”
Hanako Floral Designs created the floral arrangements for the day. Bright bouquets of pink peonies and Queen Annes Lace took centre stage. The bride notes, “I cannot recommend Hanako enough. She is so talented and has such a beautiful bright personality.”
Brittany chose a lace Maggie Sottero gown from Bridal Secrets. She remembers, “I tried on so many dresses and none of them felt right until I tried my wedding dress on. Mum and I went for a girl’s shopping day in Parramatta and we came across this bridal shop called Bridal Secrets. It was in a big old church so it caught our eye, when we walked inside we both got goosebumps. I was so in love with my dress and it was definitely worth the trips up to Parramatta for fittings etc.”
The couple chose Summerlees Estate for their weekend of festivities, remarking, “We had both our ceremony and reception at Summerlees. It was the only venue we looked at and once we visited the venue we knew it would be our last. It was absolutely perfect! I remember walking through all the hidden pathways through the garden saying to Adam this is it, we have to make this work into our budget. It was everything we wanted and more. Patty the owner of Summerlees was so welcoming and bubbly which was also a big part.”
Brittany tells, “Adam made our wedding arch, our wedding arrow and chalkboard. I made our ‘cards’ bunting and the flower cones. We had a table at our ceremony with a photo of Adam’s dad John and my Great-nan Sarah who have both passed. We had a candle for each of them and as a part of our ceremony we had Adam’s mum and my nan come up and light the candles. It was really nice and quite special.”
Of their photographer, Brittany tells, “Lauren was so amazing. I have been in bridal parties where the photographers are so bossy! Continuously telling you how to stand and what to do you almost don’t enjoy it. With Lauren you barely realize she is there, she is such a beautiful kind person which makes it so much more easier to relax and enjoy having your photos taken. Adam and I are so over the moon with our wedding photos, she has done an absolutely amazing job.”
Much of the reception was styled by the bride who tells, “I also found a really nice frame at an Op Shop which I painted the backing with black board paint for the lolly buffet sign. Myself and my maid of honour Kate did the flowers for the tables and the bunches we scattered around the place which was also really fun and definitely worth the 3am trip to the flower markets the morning before. We used so many decorations! An old type writer, books tied together with twine, bottles, jars with ribbon tied around them, candle holders, my nan’s old suitcase as our wishing well etc. ”
The food was important to the bride who chose Sassy Catering to cater the wedding and remarks, “I am a big dessert person so a dessert buffet was a must! It included pannacotta, banoffee pie, sticky date pudding and creme brulee. All of our favourites. For canapes we had king prawns with mango salsa, bruschetta, lamb fillet, sweet potato frittata, Moroccan chicken filo cigars, pumpkin and sage arancini balls and oysters three ways. For our mains we had prosciutto wrapped chicken and eye fillet steak with lots of different side dishes to share.”
Fluid Focus were chosen by the couple to film the day, the beautiful film capturing all of the romantic moments.

Her dress, bouquet, and hair… oh my! Just gorgeous!
This is such a beautifully captured wedding! I love the attention to details and the way the photographer captured the emotion of the day and the black and white photos mixed just perfectly with the color ones. Absolutely brilliant!
So nice to see a wonderful couple like this. Thanks for your post.
