Kerry & Jaxon
I love the garden party atmosphere of today’s wedding. Sipping champagne as the sun goes down with my favourite people and basking in the golden light sounds like the perfect way to spend a wedding. But if that isn’t enough to make you fall in love with today’s wedidng, perhaps the bride’s shimmering silver sequin dress will do it for you? Maybe the surprise bagpiper? The stealing the show MCs? Luckily the couple chose Alana Blowfield to make sure every moment was documented!
As for how they came to be, Kerry tells, “We met through mutual friends at an art gallery exhibition.”
Jaxon chose a navy suit with white shirt and tie from Jack London.
The couple chose Cottesloe Civic Centre as their ceremony venue. Kerry noting, “It was at 5pm and the weather was absolutely perfect! ”
For Kerry’s walk down the aisle, she remembers, “We chose Nick Cave’s “Into My Arms”. We just really love the song and felt that the lyrics were quite fitting. I loved seeing Jax as I walked down the aisle. I felt so incredibly happy and it was just amazing having all of our family and friends there to share the occasion with us.”
Kerry chose a silver evening gown from Aurelio Costarella, she tells, “I was lucky enough to have found my dress at one of the first places I went to have a look at. I wasn’t exactly sure what I was after but I knew that I would know it as soon as I saw it. It was the first thing I tried on and I just loved it! I wanted to buy it on the spot and I think the girl at the shop was a little concerned as I didn’t have anyone with me. I don’t think she was used to brides being so decisive! So I went back with my Mum and sister a few days later just to make sure.”
Rebecca Grace styled the day and created the floral arrangements.
Of their photographer, Kerry tells, “We are lucky enough to know an amazing photographer. She is my sister’s best friend and there was never anyone else we would have even considered. She is so incredibly talented and we felt extremely lucky that she was able to be a part of our day.”
Kerry and Jaxon held their reception at Jaxon’s family home in Cottesloe, Kerry tells, “Jaxon’s family have the most beautiful home in Cottesloe. It was built in 1910 and we were lucky enough to have been able to have our reception in their backyard. His parents are both avid gardeners and have the most picturesque garden. It was absolutely perfect for the kind of atmosphere we were trying to create and now holds such a lot of sentimental value every time we go there.”
A sweet pink lolly buffet greeted guests, Kerry remembering, “I really wanted to have a lolly buffet at the wedding. My sister is extremely creative and designed the most beautiful buffet for us.”
The bride and groom certainly made an entrance – with bagpipes! Kerry tells, “Jaxon’s middle brother Leo bag piped us in to the reception. It was a surprise for everyone and was really special.”
Guests enjoyed a cocktail reception catered by Heyder and Shears, the bride noting, “The food and wine was very important to us and we wanted it to be a highlight for the guests. We spent a lot of time putting together the menu and wine list. Our caterers were just amazing. We used a company called Heyder and Shears. We dealt with Athan who is one of the owners and I would have to say that people still talk about the food and service at our wedding. They were just incredible and made sure that everything ran so smoothly.”
“Our Mc’s were Jaxon’s brothers Leo and Lachlan. They both love the limelight and were very entertaining. The put on a great show and really took things to the next level with some rapping/beat boxing thrown in to introduce the speakers!”
Of their first dance, Kerry tells “Our first dance was to a song called “Truth” by the artist Alexander. The day before the wedding it occurred to us that we should probably have a little dance practice! This resulted in me stepping on Jax’s toes but luckily on the night it went off without a hitch!”
The festivities continued well into the next day, Kerry remembers, “We organised an after party back at the civic centre the next day and I loved that almost as much as my wedding. It was so good to debrief with everyone and hear all the funny stories from the night that we missed!”
Congratulations Kerry and Jaxon! Thank you for sharing the stories of your day with us! Thank you also to Alana Blowfield for sharing today’s wedding!
What a talented photographer and absolutely beautiful couple. This is my favourite wedding ever!
What a sensational gown! I love to see brides making a statement with their fashion
