Sarah & Jason
The golden light in today’s Gold Coast Winter wedding makes the setting almost surreal, together with the sweetest little white wedding chapel, it sets the scene for a Winter wedding day that is such a beautiful story to tell. Figtree Pictures captured the photos of the day.
Sarah tells their story. “We first met late in 2010. I own a coffee shop close to where Jason had just moved to. He would drop in and get a coffee once a day. For me, it was love at first sight, I thought “Wow I haven’t seen him around before or I would of remembered him!”. for Jason I think he was just focused on his coffee order and me getting it right. It wasn’t a straight forward order!.
Jason was a little blind for two years, as I tried and tried to drop subtle hints to see if he was available and if he was interested. He gave me nothing. This went on for two years. Two years of getting the wrong coffee order and still coming back. I was really going to give up.
Then one day the penny dropped for Jason, we started chatting more and more. He was at the café more and more. Then we went out. The first date we were both ridiculously nervous. Apparently his car was still moving when I jumped out. Though the second date was a lot more relaxed. From those dates we have never looked back. I’m so lucky.”
Sarah and her bridesmaid wore gowns from Zimmermann. Sarah carried a bouquet of pink peonies created by Fleurus who styled the floral arrangements for the day.
Sarah and Jason chose Braeside Chapel for their wedding, noting, “Braeside is at Merrimac on the Gold Coast. The venue is run by Judy and John. They are the most helpful people ever. No job was too big or to small they were more than accommodating. We got married in their beautiful little chapel. Then did some cocktails and canapés in their garden. We had our reception in their fixed marquee which is fully enclosed and has stunning lighting.”
Sarah chose the traditional bridal chorus for her walk down the aisle.
Celebrant Helen Murray officiated the ceremony.
Of their photographer, Sarah tells, “Kristy from Figtree Pictures was so easy to work with. We wanted photos that didn’t feel staged.”
Of their reception, Sarah remarks, “Being in the middle of winter we made it intimate and warm. We wanted lots of flowers, greenery and lace. Lots of candles to make it cosy.”
The couple hired their furniture and props from The Collector & Co, Sarah noting, “Once we saw their warehouse, we couldn’t stop!”
Rebellyous Cake Co created a three tier naked wedding cake.
Vintage caravan Olive & Co pulled into the marquee for the night to serve up the drinks.
Sarah notes, “Jason and I wanted to take the day in as much as we could. We made sure we sat at our head table together and watch it unfold.”
For their first dance, Sarah and Jason chose Etta James “At Last”. Sarah remembers “It felt like no-one else was in the room”.
Congratulations on your marriage Sarah and Jason! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you also to Figtree Pictures for sharing this gorgeous day!
