Tanya & Kyal
Ah, Summer in the country, what could be better? This beautiful Australian Summer country wedding is right up my alley. From the beautiful details, the glasses of Pimms to cool everyone down and the sweet pots of herbs guests took home as gifts.
Of how they met, the bride tells, “We met at a party on Australia Day Eve, four years to the day before we got married.”
The couple chose historic venue The Briars, Mornington Peninsula for their wedding day, remarking, “We came across the Briars as we wanted to get married locally, have an outdoor ceremony and loved the Barn as a reception venue. We loved the idea of having the ceremony and reception at the same venue as it meant our guests could relax into the afternoon and then slowly walk up the hill to the beautiful barn.”
For her walk down the aisle, Tanya remembers, “Our musician Mark Brunot played an acoustic version of ‘Everlasting Light’ by The Black Keys.”
What makes a first kiss even more celebratory? Surprise streamers of course!
Tanya chose a simple gown from Lisa Ho, her bridesmaids in dresses from Zimmermann while the groom and groomsmen wore Studio Italia suits.
Secret Garden created bright, country style floral arrangements.
The bride and groom wanted a “Relaxed, summer wedding with a garden party feel” so of course, Pimms were served!
Each guest received a potted rosemary plant as their wedding favour.
Tanya remembers, “Almost all of the decorations for the wedding were DIY, from the table decorations to the wedding favours. We spent the months before the wedding creating the decorations on weekends and got lots of help from family to do many of the signs and the wedding favors. I surprised the groom and groomsmen by stitching their initials on the back of their ties as a little memory of the day and stitched a little note on handkerchiefs for the bridesmaids. We had a whiskey bar set up for those of our guests who often celebrate the end of a special occasion with a tipple!”
“The long tables created the feeling of a summer family feast and we decided on grazing plates to enhance that feeling. We had fantastic caterers (Maude Street Catering) and the food was incredibly delicious, ending with a large table of desserts.”
Tanya remembers the first dance, “Our first dance was to Otis Redding’s ‘That’s how strong my love is’.”
Congratulations Tanya and Kyal! Thank you sharing your day with us!
Beautiful! I just loved the candid compositions mostly. There are very few posed shots and it gives a feel of looking back down the memory lane rather than browsing an album. Also kudus to the nice greyscale photos as well 🙂
