When it came time to celebrate their engagement, Lucky and Mandy skipped the sweeping vistas and dramatic poses in favour of something that felt a little more like them. And like a scene from their favourite rom-com, they baked together, laughing through the flour-covered chaos and simply enjoying each other’s company. Thankfully, Yasmina Nadine Photography understood the assignment from the very beginning, capturing every grin, every playful moment and each candid interaction in a way that feels wonderfully natural.
After meeting online, it took Lucky and Mandy three months before they could finally meet in person. The physical distance from Kangaroo Island and Sydney didn’t stop them from clicking instantly, thankfully.
Lucky took Mandy on a trip up to Tropical North Queensland to escape Sydney’s winter blues. As they were taking a scenic walk around the river’s edge, Lucky was giving a speech about how much she loves Mandy. And clearly this is something she shares regularly, as Mandy didn’t realise this was THE speech! “I said ‘you too’ and went to take my shoes off to put my feet in the water. First I tried to take a video of the view, and when I turned around to Lucky, she was on her knee with the ring. I said yes immediately!” Mandy shared.
Wanting something out of the box (but certainly not baked from a box!), Mandy and Lucky wanted to have their very own rom-com baking moment for their engagement shoot. “We wanted something to demonstrate our easy-going relationship. Neither of us like posing for photos!”
From the get-go, Yasmina Nadine understood the brief Lucky and Mandy put forth – and they loved her for it! “She is a photographer who captures real magical moments without too much instruction or hands-on posing. She made us feel relaxed and ourselves during the shoot, and we can’t wait to have her photograph our wedding!”
For Lucky, her favourite thing about Mandy is how thoughtful and kind she is. “She is also incredibly intelligent, empathetic and a very good listener. I often thank her for putting up with a yapper like me – honestly don’t know how she does it :)!”
And for Mandy, Lucky’s joy for life is what draws her in the most. “She is a beautiful, positive person who excels in everything she does. She teaches me how not to stress about small things and makes me feel like we can achieve anything together,” Mandy explained.
One of their fondest memories together took place in South Africa during a game drive. “We had stopped to have drinks and the guide was telling us how important it is not to run during unexpected wildlife encounters. Then we heard an elephant trumpet in the distance and Lucky and I (along with the rest of the family) immediately bolted onto the truck, where we realised we had just agreed with the guide and said we would never do that! The guide was shaking his head at us while we belly-laughed safely in the truck. We did not get out of the truck to help him pack up the drinks,” she shared.
Congratulations on your engagement, Mandy and Lucky – we’re sure your wedding is going to be as heartwarming and romantic as your shoot! Thanks, Yasmina Nadine Photography, for capturing and sharing these fun moments with us.
