Maria and Dave
Everybody that knows me, knows every time we hit a heatwave my first thoughts are, “Oh no! The poor couples getting married today must be sweltering!” Well Maria and Dave happened to choose a 42 degree day for their fun Summer wedding and they don’t look hot and bothered, they just look incredibly happy, which really, is the only thing a wedding needs! Their day was beautifully captured by Two Girls with a Camera.
Maria kicks us of with the tale of their love. “It all began when Dave started working at Maria’s workplace around four years ago, Maria had the job of ‘checking him out’ for the girls, and decided that he was good friend material… low and behold though Dave had other plans up his sleeve, he played the good friend, shoulder to cry on role for almost a year while waiting in the wings until one day…. well all he really had to add was ‘I love doing photography’ and with that Maria’s view of him changed… And here we are today!”
Maria chose a beaded gown by Anna Campbell.
Maria and Dave held their ceremony and reception at Canterbury Stables. Maria remarks, “We picked our venue because of the amazing history, character and vintage feel that it had. We wanted an intimate, casual, fuss free celebration of our love and commitment and the Stables where the perfect setting which truly represented all we are about.”
The wedding was truly a labor of love with Maria making the decor and many other handmade elements, remembering, “With lots of help from close family and friends of course. From the pom-poms to the lolly buffet, table runners, floral arrangements, cake… the list goes on! ”
Maria walked down the aisle to “I’m Yours” sung by her sister.
The ceremony was especially personal to the couple who chose David Ayliffe to marry them. Maria remarks, “We loved our funny and personalized wedding vows and the lighthearted and funny celebrant David.”
Of their photographers, Maria tells “OMG where do I begin! Amazing just doesn’t cut it! We felt like we had known them for years and the excitement they had on the day, just to be sharing it with us made it even more warm, fun and relaxed. They blew us away not only with their gorgeous work but with the amazing instant friendship, great sense of humor and most of all their dedication to ensuring that they helped us document exactly what the day was about.”
Guests enjoyed “Amazing homemade catering by Laura’s Catering Service” As well as a beautiful dessert buffet.
Of their first dance, the couple tell “We chose ‘Ho Hey’ by The Lumineers also sung by Maria’s sister. We both absolutely love this song and have dedicated it to each other over ‘Hey-tell’ many of times when it has been on the radio and we are not together! It has such a fun and lighthearted tune which is so us!”
Maria loved the fact that “We survived the 42 degrees with only one portable air con unit for 70 guests and still had a ton of fun, which included a flash dance to Michael Jackson’s ‘thriller’! ”
Congratulations on your nuptials Maria and Dave! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you also to Two Girls with a Camera for sharing today’s wedding and story!
