Happy Monday Dotties! Did you have a lovely weekend? Are our US friends back to work after the lovely 4th of July week? (the concept of sunshine and swimming pools is so foreign to me today!)

Before we get started into a jam packed week of inspiration, let’s take a peek at Ms Polka Dot’s Directory

The cinematographers? Their films will make you laugh & cry,  the hair & makeup artists? The talented professionals who can help you pull your look together, the wedding planners? They’re the ones who can help you stay sane, and of course there’s even the wedding photographers, the ones who capture every moment with beauty.

If there is one thing I am happy to leave to professionals on a wedding day it’s hair and makeup so this week’s vendor of the week? A talented stylist who creates beautiful hair & makeup styles on brides, bridesmaids and anyone else in your bridal party! Miss Aimmey is based in Melbourne and having worked with prestigious brands has now turned her hand to weddings. From smokey eyes, to more natural looks Aimmey is trained to create different looks and really listens to what you want!

We asked Aimmey from Miss Aimmey five questions in five minutes –

What is your favourite after five drink?

I LOVE plum wine. It’s so good! sweet and light but will definitely do the trick if you’ve had a long day at work. It’s Japanese and so delicious. Otherwise I can never go past a Rekorderlig Cider, it is the most yummiest drink ever!

Your favourite weekend getaway?

I am a big fan of the water and anywhere beachy so I love Melbourne’s Great Ocean Road drive and staying anywhere near the beach like Lorne or Apollo Bay. Some of my happiest memories of building sandcastles and long summer night walks all have that back drop. It’s so very romantic and relaxing. It’s not too far but far enough to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Favourite restaurant?

I am such a foody that it’s hard to chose but I love Japanese food and Spanish food specifically. I could always eat either as I guess they’re both tapas styled and so you get to try a little of everything. It’s also great for socialising and getting friends together to enjoy great food and drinks. My two faves are Izakya Chuji and Barcelona.

What can we find you eating for breakfast on a Sunday morning?

You can find me down in South Melbourne at my favourite little spot, “Cafe Sweethearts” where my partner took me for our first breakfast date 6 years ago. Very cute and wonderful pancakes, eggs and coffee!

Your favourite wedding story?

One of the very first weddings I was a part of made me cry from how emotional it was. While the bride was getting her make up done, her grandparents sat and watched her and her grandfather told her how beautiful she looked and how proud he was to be part of her special day. Her grandmother was holding her grandfather’s hand at this stage and said she hoped she would be as happy as she was throughout her marriage. That really set in motion for tears to fall and it was lovely just to see how happy a couple could be after 53 years of marriage! More tears fell when her mum and dad saw her in her wedding gown. Overall, the vibe was just electric and everyone involved shed a tear before the ceremony even started. It just made me realise that on your wedding day, all the important people in your lives will be there and that love really is possible. What a warm and fuzzy feeling.
