Erin & Andrew
I am so happy to finally share this wedding with you, the details and sense of fun of the occasion uplifts my heart and soul- it’s a little quirky, a little whimsical and looks like one of my favourite movies Up! transformed into a beautiful wedding day (there are balloons and little houses, it’s superb!)
Erin and Andrew met in a very sporty way. Erin explains “We met via mutual friends who started an indoor soccer team. There wasn’t much concentrating on the soccer game & I would wear a full face of make-up every week – hehe…not very sporting ;)”
Photographs today are by Leo Farrell. Leo has such a way of taking moody, atmospheric photos without losing the lightness and joy of a wedding day.
Erin & Andrew married at Gardens House in the Royal Botanic Gardens and had the event planned and styled by Simply Georgeous Occasions. Erin recalls “Garden’s house itself is an old cottage in the heart of the gardens where the caretaker/s used to live. For the most part the wedding was outside in the gardens.. It was all managed by Simply Georgeous Occasions who had to dress the gardens from scratch.”
The groom wore a Jack London suit while his groomsmen wore vintage attire.
Erin wore a gown from Collette Dinnigan. After a bad experience with another dress, she soon found something just right. Erin recalls “I had a shocking time with my dress. I went to a dressmaker who didn’t pull it off (my fault probably for being overly ambitious and not researching her past work properly) SO one week before the wedding I had no dress!! I went to Collette Dinnigan (in tears) and got the only dress available in my size off the rack. Then I added a few little things myself (black ribbon and vintage broach – so I felt like I had contributed SOMETHING).” Erin wore shoes from Alannah Hill and her bridesmaid’s wore gowns from Zimmermann. The girl’s hair & makeup was styled by Darren Cartledge.
Erin walked down the aisle to “An acoustic version of ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ (with just a ukulele). I actually also stood on the bottom of my dress (which nearly fell off) THEN my heels got stuck in the grass – it was a very clumsy entrance so lucky we had a bit of a playful song!” The Julie O’Hara Quartet provided the music.
Erin and Andrew were married by Warren Edwards.
The couple contriburted sweet touches to the day. Erin explains “We did our invitations (Andrew designed) and Andrew’s Mum did the guest gifts. My mum organised the cake (kept her busy and distracted as she was pretty sceptical about our ‘DIY’ ‘Look’…she loved it in the end though and was very proud My mum agreed to put cat chocolates on the cake even though she HATED all my childhood cats – now that’s love!!” Peter Rowland Catering provided a canape and cocktail reception.
Of their photographer Erin says “Leo Farrell is the most talented guy! Andrew and I run a photography agency and met Leo on some commercial advertising jobs. He is in HOT demand in Melbourne and has the most beautiful way of capturing those natural moments. We felt really comfortable with him as we didn’t have to pull out an cheesy poses (which we HATE) ;)”
Erin loved “The speeches which may have went too long but were so well crafted and spoken from the hearts of our families and friends.”
One of Erin’s favourite memories was a complete surprise. She remembers “Best moment was when Andrew SANG to me after his speech (Frankie Valli ‘You’re Just Too Good to Be True). I have never heard him sig before and he is pretty shy so I was so touched he’s get up and do that in front of 100 guests! I actually cried which is unusual (my mum calls me Hard Hearted Hannah – hehe):) I think you can see my shock in one of the photo’s with the guests all behind me?”
Erin and Andrew hired Julie O’Hara Quartet to perform at the reception. Erin says “The band which was brilliant & got everyone dancing under the stars.”
Erin recalls “Our bridal dance was to “Lets Stay Together” by Al Green. I can’t dance AT ALL – Andrew had plenty of rhythm though and we hid my two left feet quite well I think.”
Congratulations Erin & Andrew! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us! Thank you to Leo Farrell. for the photographs!
Beautiful. Lovely. Thoughtful. Fun! What more can you ask for? Congrats to Erin & Andrew.
I love the multicoloured balloons so much!
Gorgeous wedding. I love the look of Gardens House. And balloons! Thrilled to see more of Leo’s work on here. We’ve booked him for our wedding in 2013 & I cannot WAIT!
Are you able to tell me what time their ceremony started? Thanks! 🙂
Hi Lucy,
They didn’t provide that information unfortunately. Perhaps their photographer or planner might know!
