Germaine & Jonathan

If you love a wedding with lots of colour than do I just have the prettiest one for you! Pouring over Germaine & Jonathan’s wedding reminds me of walking into an ice-cream store- there’s beautiful shades of lemon, lime, raspberry and watermelon all making for such a splendid combination across the industrial grey of the bleary Sydney day.

Germaine tells the tale of her and Jonathan. “I guess how we met will sound pretty ordinary to many; we met in class at UNSW.  But it was how we connected that was special to us. It just felt right and we felt that we connected with one another.  We make one another feel special, and we honor each other.  Good times or bad, we help one another feel confident and get by good times and bad.”

Infinity Photography captured the images for Germaine and Jonathan and aren’t the colours so splendidly vibrant? It seems like the choice of having a colourful wedding injected life and fun into every other aspect of the day! MMG Videography captured a film of the day for the couple.

Germaine chose a gown from Skarr Sydney  for her wedding day. She recalls “Rheola was the kindest person she was so lovely and supportive. It felt like she found the best dress for me.  Her flexibility was amazing! I could do my final fitting on the very last day before!” Germaine paired her gown with hot pink heels she found in a Parisian boutique and pearl jewellery from her godmother.

Butterfly Philosophy created bouquets in bright citrus hues to compliment the bride’s pink, watermelon and lemon gowns which they found online. Amy Chan Hair & Makeup Artistry styled the girls hair & makeup for the day.

Germaine walked down the aisle to “Canon in D with 3 piece strings band! Quite typical but it really sets the mood. I couldn’t stop smiling – thought I’d cry but it was more funny than anything.” The couple were married at Mary Mackillop Memorial Chapel.

The groom and groomsmen wore suits from Hugo Boss.

Of their photographer, Germaine says “The photographer was amazing, I did not even realise she was around and she made our wedding shots feel effortless! The one thing I dread was taking many ‘posy’ like photos, but she had captured those moments without even me being conscious of it! Infinity has created a memory for my wedding.”

Germaine and Jonathan held their reception at the Botanic Gardens Restaurant. Germaine says “Locations are always difficult, you never get what you want, but Botanic Gardens felt right. We had looked for many venues creating the day time natural country feel – but in the city and convenient. The ‘white’ theme with a green background suited our colours! The smell of natural plants is what we truly enjoy.” Germaine and Jonathan served a special lychee martini to their guests called ” The Germaine&Jon Drink”.

A friend of Germaine’s designed the stationery which Germaine had printed in Malaysia.

Butterfly Philosophy also decorated the reception space with fresh, colourful blooms. Germaine says “Elaine was amazing! After describing what I was looking for just once, she understood what I wanted and what I was looking for. She had given me my dream wedding! To me, the decoration and flowers were really important (probably rated the most important factors to my wedding) as it set the ‘feel’ and ‘theme’ of the location and Elaine had definitely created a memorable event for my husband and I.” Striped tablecloths, pom poms and jelly beans accompanied the flowers and set the scene for a fun event.

Germaine and Jonathan gifted their guests a sweet treat. Germaine recalls, ” We gave hand made biscuits in brown paper bags with ‘love’ stamped to it. We wanted to share the love with our guests and as many of my guests know that I love baking.”

In lieu of a wedding cake, Germaine and Jonathan filled a dessert table with their favourite sweet treats from Adriano Zumbo and Sweet Infinity. Germaine explains ” Although we didn’t try it, the Zumbo macaroons and Sweet Infinity desserts definitely left a memory for our guests!”

The MC invited Germaine and Jonathan to play a fun game that got everybody laughing.

Congratulations Germaine and Jonathan! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us! Thank you also to Infinity Photography for sharing today’s images!
