Hinterland Garden Party Wedding - Part Two

As the wedding started to take shape, so too did my handmade projects. The first was the handbeaded belt I created for my wedding gown. Each night for months, I hand beaded crystals and beads onto a piece of silk tulle, the same tulle I bought to create my veil. Using a piece of lace from the fabric of my gown for the comb, I created a chapel length veil out of the ivory silk tulle.

I then used the same tulle and another piece of lace to make a bouquet corsage to match my gown and veil.

I also created two headpieces out of two more pieces of lace from my gown for my bridesmaids, beading and creating gorgeous Swarvovski dangles for added vintage flair. I made matching silver satin flower corsages, with silver velvet ribbons. The bridesmaids loved them! I bought personalised bags and filled them with the gifts to present to the girls on the morning of the wedding.

Our decorations were all but done, and it was time for my gown and accessories! I bought the Stephanie Browne Charleston Double Bandeau and Bracelet immediately as I had them picked since we got engaged. I also purchased my reception gown, the Elizabeth De Varga “Evangeline” and got to work adding extra beading to my bodice! I purchased an ostrich feather capelet for the reception and added extra lace to the ties. Around this time, I took the bridesmaids to see the gowns that I had my heart set on – Anna Campbell Shimmer Wrap gowns, which featured lace that matched my gown. The girls loved them and I helped purchase them as a gift to them.

With the final details getting sorted, we got to work on finalising the major parts of the day. We hired a gorgeous 1957 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud in deep red, and I created a beautiful wreath to hang from the front. I collected some tiny drawers to hold enveloped tissues, and we had our calligrapher create a sign, “for tears of joy, tears of laughter, tears of happily ever after” for our guests.

The violinists from Sista Strings were booked, and our cake, a selection of rose shaped cupcakes, was ordered from Eden Cupcakes.

We collected little decorations including a wishes banner, Mr and Mrs banner and Bride and Groom chair cards, as sweet handmade touches. These helped add character to the day. We filled tin cans with baby’s breath and filled our love story cones with rose petals on the big day. We placed peonies inside glass teraniums for the wish tree, and chose to have a fingerprint tree, instead of the traditional guest book.
