Kristy and Brendan

Interior designer and photographer Ashley Krogman sent this  “rustic camping” style engagement session along and I thought it was a nice variation on the picnic style engagement- especially with a lovely hot drink in that retro thermos. Hot chocolate? Yes please!

Bride to be Kristy, shared the story of her relationship with Brendan. “One of my favorite holidays that I look forward to every year is Thanksgiving. A time to celebrate with friends and family and be thankful for all the blessing that God has put into my life. This year however was going to be different and a little more difficult. My mom passed away unexpectedly in April and my Grandmother in October, and this year Thanksgiving just didn’t mean the same to me. I wasn’t going to be able to spend it with 2 very important people in my life.

Every other year Thanksgiving falls on my mother’s birthday, November 25th, and this year happened to be one of those years. The 25th snuck up on me and it was time to travel back home to spend the holiday with my family. My fiance was such a sweetheart and bought flowers to bring to my mom’s site for Thanksgiving and her birthday. On the way home (2 hour drive) he seemed to be acting a little different but I didn’t think much about it, little did I know he was so nervous and rehearsing what he was going to say in his head.

When we got to mom’s site we laid down the flowers and got to tell her happy birthday. When I stood up ready to leave, he pulled me tight and told me how much he loved me. He began to start his proposal and told me that he knew it would be hard to go though the next big phases of life without her by my side and that he wanted to get me as close to her as possible to share this moment with her on her birthday. As tears came falling down I realized that I still did have a lot to be Thankful for on Thanksgiving and that my mom isn’t going to be missing the next big phases of my life, only seeing from a different view.

Brendon and I met at Deerwood country club, him as an assistant golf pro and me as the beverage cart attendant or the “beverage babe” as he called it! Brendon is the type of guy that every girl wants to be with. Funny smart polite and charming ( most of the time) haha . He has a way of making the whole room laugh including himself. Brendon is the most goal oriented and driven person I have ever met.  He drew me in with his charm and cute smile but has kept me here because of his passion for life and the amount of love he has to give.  It sounds so cliché to say I am marrying my best friend, but I truly am. We can’t wait to start our journey together and experience all that life has to offer us.”
