A fun and summery board for you this afternoon – or rather for reader Eleanor who is having a picnic wedding beside the seaside on a farm.
I envisage an eclectic style of picnic wedding for Eleanor. For her – a fifties ballgown, with her bridesmaids in soft tutus in different shades of brown. A ceremony under lengths of streamers blowing in the breeze, a bouquet of sweet peas and the golden sun dried grass glowing as the bride walks to meet her groom.
Tables covered with vintage table cloths, stacks of books (when in doubt Eleanor and her fiance can be found in a corner leafing through the pages) and some vintage accessories like a globe (they love to travel) and plenty of votive candles, and mismatched glass jars and vases holding flowers in shades of orange and pinks. Blankets and rugs with soft, squishy cushions for guests to mingle and dine.
Garden games of bocce and croquet set up near rugs covered with throw pillows, and platters of freshly made comfort food like grilled cheese sandwiches and eco-friendly cutlery tied up with string. The homemade wedding cake topped with a hand sewn love heart. (Not only is Eleanor handy with a needle and thread, but she’s is smitten with the wedding of Max & Margeux). As darkness falls, paper lanterns glow creating shadows and atmosphere.

The lanterns in the trees look great!! They are a must if your reception is outside in the evening!

Elanor your wedding looks beautiful
My fiance and I are planning a picnic wedding on the beach for Febuary 2012 (thats summer time here in australia) We are going to have a marquee set up on the local foreshore rented trestle tables covered in picnic blankets, seashell centrepieces and paper lanterns. Food will be served in big picnic baskets. (My biggest challenge right now is figuring out how to pack the baskets beautifully) Then for dessert we are hiring an ice cream van to come by. 🙂
