For our final theme issue of 2026, we wanted to have a little fun. So we’re turning our hand to pattern. Stripes, checks and florals, linens and prints, tiles and mismatched plates, and how couples are bringing them into their weddings. Advice from the people who work with it every day, real weddings and styled shoots, and plenty to be inspired by, all unfolding on our pages until the end of November.

Pattern can make people nervous. There’s the worry that it’ll be too busy, too much, or that it might date. And yet it’s already all around us. The striped shirt at the back of the wardrobe. Your grandmother’s floral tablecloth. The tiles in a venue you fell for on the very first tour. We live with it happily every day, and hesitate when it comes to choosing it for a wedding.

At its simplest, pattern is just something that repeats. A stripe, a check, a bloom, over and over, and it can hold its own beautifully. Weddings do the same thing. The song everyone sings at the reception. The speech that makes someone cry. The recipe passed down, the traditions we keep and the ones we quietly change. Every wedding is built from patterns that came before it, and it becomes yours in the way you rearrange them.

This issue is for the repeat, and for the way each couple makes it their own.

Welcome to The Pattern Issue. Follow along here over the next two months for all the fun.
