For today’s feature, we’re excited to share Anne and Dave’s beautiful home wedding. With delicious catering done by Creations by Ros and captured through the expert eye of Octavia Weddings, this intimate celebration was one they’ll never forget.
Anne and Dave met on a blind date set up through their mutual friends. Forming their now beautiful relationship over a decade of being together.
It was actually Anne’s breast cancer diagnosis that spurred them into motion, organising their wedding just a week after her double mastectomy. “The results confirmed the cancer had spread to the lymph nodes, and a second operation was required a week later to remove the lymph nodes with treatment to follow. In the surgeon’s office, I turned to Dave and said, “I think we should get married. Let’s do it soon, I want to have my own hair on my head!” We had been actually been talking about getting married for over 10 years, this now seemed like just the right time to do it. Dave was excited and we organised it in just a week. It was perfect!” Anne shared.
With the help of her daughter-in-law Erin, Anne went shopping for a new dress for their at-home ceremony. “She took me shopping, and we found the right one at Manning Cartel at Claremont Quarter. Thank you, Erin. I would not have gone on my own.”
Dave wore a classic pair of navy chinos with a crisp white shirt for the event, keeping things nice and simple.
Their back deck in their home in Perth was the perfect setting for this summer home ceremony. “With the ocean in the background. Again, thank you, Erin, who organised a beautiful flower arrangement by Poppy’s in Nedlands!”
The aisle walk was from Anne’s bedroom to the deck, with her son Steve, his wife Erin and her baby grandson Ollie! Freddie Mercury’s “You’re My Best Friend” played as they entered.
Their marriage celebrant was the wonderful Damain Martin (former Perth Wildcats captain), who is a friend of the couple. “He managed to organise the official side in quick time due to my circumstances and find the time to marry us in less than a week. A special thank you to Damian, he made our day, he shared some of our thoughts and feelings for each other, some of our humour and interests and lots of our love,” Anne explained.
With the help of Ros from Creations by Ros, Anne and Dave fed their guests a delicious spread in the warm Perth air. “Fabulous food she makes herself, and she did everything on the day herself, too. So professional and friendly.”
Charlie from Octavia Weddings was the perfect choice to capture this family event, and in the words of Anne herself: “She is great!! Relaxed, natural and professional. She was recommended to us by the lovely Angela and Zac from Halo Diamonds, where we do all our diamond shopping.”
For Dave, the best part of their intimate wedding was being surrounded by their loved ones while marrying his favourite lady. “I was just happy to marry the lady I love in our own home with our special friends and family. It couldn’t have been any better.”
Thanks to Octavia Weddings for capturing and sharing these beautiful shots with us, and a huge congratulations to Anne and Dave!
