In a celebration that perfectly captured the essence of fun and self-expression, Jamie and Carla tied the knot in a burst of colour and joy. Their journey began in the digital age, yet blossomed into a love story that was anything but ordinary. Join us as we explore the stunning details captured by Daniel Kukec Photography and Dragonfly Productions.
Like many modern couples, Jamie and Carla met on a dating app. What set them apart from the typical app-first date was how they both committed to seeing Billy Elliot the Musical! “It was a first for both of us to do something so big for a first date, but it seemed to work!”
Instead of a grand public proposal, Jamie surprised Carla with an intimate one in their apartment. “It was nothing fancy, but it was special,” he shared.
Jamie wore this incredible pink velvet suit jacket from Politix. His groomsmen also wore matching black velvet suits from Politix.
Carla chose to work with Lilli Marcs to create her stunning glittery gown, with a fitted bodice and a pop of colour from her funky coral heels.
Her wedding party wore a collection of green gowns, also custom-made by Lilli Marcs, each tailored to each individual’s style.
Working with Polyanthi in New South Wales, Jamie and Carla chose vibrant, colourful blooms to create their wedding flowers, adding even more brightness to their day.
The Calyx in Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens was the venue of choice for Carla and Jamie’s colourful wedding. They were completely won over by the three main areas: the outdoor amphitheatre for the ceremony, the unique flower wall for their cocktail hour and the adjoining indoor area for the reception. “It was colourful and unique, and matched our personalities perfectly.”
Both Jamie and Carla had their own wedding procession into the ceremony, choosing separate acoustic songs for their musician to play live.
As they both settled under the Chuppah for the ceremony and Carla had finished the bridal circuit (walking around the groom), they began their traditional Jewish ceremony. “The ceremony was very special and meaningful to us,” Jamie explained.
With Daniel Kukec behind the lens, there was no doubt that Jamie and Carla’s gallery would be a kaleidoscope of colour and vibrancy. “There are no specific favourites, as we have about 20 favourites! Each photo was taken in the moment, which is exactly what we wanted (we didn’t want posed shots). Daniel was such a pro – he captured the moments for us perfectly. He was such a kind, patient photographer. We can’t recommend him highly enough!”
This wedding wouldn’t have been as amazing without the delicate hands of their wedding planner, Fiona from The Wedding Collaborator. “She made the planning process so much fun, and she was so organised that everything ran incredibly smoothly,” they shared.
“She handled everything on the day with calm and precision, alleviating our concerns and letting us enjoy the day without any stress. She is a dear friend of ours now, and we can’t possibly thank her enough.”
For Jamie and Carla, the best part of planning their colourful Jewish wedding was their regular catch-ups with Fiona. “We always had a great time chatting and planning everything. There was no stress at all and just a lot of laughs.”
They finished out the night with the Hora, laughing as they danced with their guests and basked in their newlywed bliss.
Thanks to Daniel Kukec Photography for capturing and sharing these moments. And a huge congratulations to Jamie and Carla!
