Rooted in country charm and crafted with care, Scott and Maggie’s wedding was the kind of day that felt effortlessly beautiful. With Rachel Ramsey behind the lens and Love Soldier Weddings capturing every heartfelt moment on film, their celebration unfolded with warmth, laughter, and love. This celebration was all about community, connection, and the beauty of simplicity!

Scott and Maggie’s story began just as many great country romances do, at the local pub. No grand gestures, no serendipitous twists, just two people crossing paths in their small town and finding something that felt right from the start.

When it came time to propose, Scott knew he wanted the moment to feel thoughtful and relaxed. So when Maggie had booked a spa day near Birregurra, Scott realised it would be the perfect opportunity. With the help of the spa’s owner, he arranged for flowers and champagne to be waiting. After four months of keeping the ring hidden at home, he finally found his moment: the perfect blend of relaxed country charm.

When it came to picking out his wedding suit, Scott knew he didn’t want the classic black tones. Instead, he chose a grey jacket with a classic suit base of black pants and a white shirt from Eddy Elias.

Both Scott and Maggie had three people in their wedding parties, with the groomsmen wearing matching grey suits from Eddy Elias. The bridesmaids wore stunning olive green dresses from Rumer the Label.

Maggie opted for a timeless look, featuring a beautiful ivory long-sleeved dress from Pearls and Roses, paired with a gorgeous pearl veil and blue heels from Bared Footwear. “I had an excellent experience with Karen, who made the dress,” she shared.

With the help of Donna from Howard Flowers, Maggie created a stunning autumnal vibe. “A mix of flowers were used with lots of texture. The bouquets were all roses. I loved the orange roses in my bouquet. I know the florist Donna very well, which made it super easy with communication and deciding on what we wanted,” Maggie explained. “We also grew some flowers at my mum and dad’s, which we used in the wedding also.”

Maggie walked down the aisle with her dad on her arm, as “Arrows” by Missy Higgins was performed live by Abe Anderson.

For their ceremony, Maggie and Scott didn’t want anything too over the top; instead, they created a ceremony that was simple, lighthearted and short. “Zena, our celebrant, did an amazing job, and we couldn’t have asked for anything better,” they explained. “Zena described the ceremony as gentle, honest and grounded. No big show or chasing a laugh – just the kind that comes naturally.”

When you have a photographer like Rachel Ramsey on your side, your day is going to flow so seamlessly – not awkwardness to be found! “I don’t think we have a favourite. We loved all the photos, especially the candid photos. Seeing everyone have a good time and enjoying themselves made us feel like we put together a very special day,” Maggie shared. “Rach was very easy to get along with. She made us feel relaxed and not awkward at all!!”

The advice Scott and Maggie want to leave for couples planning their own days is this: “Enjoy every moment. The day goes so quick,” Maggie shared. “I had so much fun with the lead-up and the planning stages.”

For the reception, Maggie and Scott moved their guests to Scott’s parents’ home, where they’d created the perfect country garden set-up. “The reception was at Scott’s parents where we had the canapés in the garden and a clear marquee where we sat for our main meal, and the band was set up in. The garden and marquee flowed into each other, and we had the front of the marquee open, so if you were out in the garden after all the formalities were over, you still felt a part of it all, as you could see everyone dancing and hear the band. We were very lucky with the weather; it couldn’t have been better for the night. We had photos of our grandparents and parents from their wedding day in frames that sat on a small table with a candle. Anything that was made by our family was special to us.”

Scott’s mum and dad put their heart and soul into keeping the garden immaculate for Maggie and Scott’s day, watering everything to perfection. They weren’t the only two friends and family who pitched in to help make this wedding so special: “Scott, my dad and brother extended the dance floor to meet the garden and make more space.

My dad set up a makeup booth where anyone could touch up their makeup or freshen up with deodorant. He also made the pillars on which two urns filled with flowers sat.

Scott’s dad made the bench seats for the ceremony, and his mom made the cushions to go on top.

My mum made our wedding cake with the help of my aunty. We had a dessert bar, which my mum and some very special people made different desserts for, and everyone was able to help themselves to one on the night. Mum dried rose petals and cut cumquat leaves into heart shapes for the ceremony.

All the equipment was hired from Elderberry Event Hire, Pepper Sprout Hire, and Event Marquees. We arranged all the table settings the day before, and with the help of some very helpful friends and family, we completed the final touches on the day of the wedding.

Our family and bridal party did an amazing job the day before the wedding with getting everything perfect. We are lucky to have good tradies in our family!!”

For their first dance, Maggie and Scott chose “Throw Your Arms Around Me” by Ed Sheeran, performed by their band Jordan Frew Music.

Congratulations, Maggie and Scott! You should be so so proud of this beautiful show of community and love you’ve created. Thanks to Rachel Ramsey for sharing these moments with us as well.
