As we wrap up our beautifully bold Pink Issue, what better way to say farewell than with florals in every shade of pink? On Polka Dot Wisdom today, we’re handing things over to creative director Nicole Ritchie and head florist Demi-May Pearce of Beautiful Weddings & Events, who have created a complete guide to pink wedding flowers. Whether you’re dreaming of soft blush tones or a daring magenta moment, Nicole and Demi-May share their expert insights into how to embrace pink through the seasons, build stunning floral combinations, and make your palette truly sing. This is all while ensuring your wedding style stays balanced, intentional, and full of joy. To bring their vision to life are the talented team at We Are Twine, who captured every floral-filled detail at the beautiful Victoria Park.

Pink has long been a favourite for weddings. The colour symbolises love, romance and joy, making it a timeless and versatile colour choice for couples. Whether you’re aiming for soft elegance or bold drama, there’s a shade of pink and a flower to match your theme and season. However, there is a key to including pink in your wedding. It’s all about choosing the right shade of pink to match your style and personality.

For a soft, romantic, whimsical wedding, mix shades of blush and dusty pink mixed with beautiful whites and ivories. Of course, if you are planning a Spring wedding though, and you want a vibrant rainbow of colour, use mid-pinks or Barbie tones as your base colour then offset them with beautiful lemons, pale blues and lilacs to help bring that splash of colour and fun to the wedding celebration.

For those wanting to add statement and bold impact with their florals, think fuchsias, hot pinks, magentas and corals. We also recommend using vibrant pinks with reds and blush to really help make the rich pinks become the hero of your bouquet or arrangement.

One of the best things about pink is that it comes in so many different flower varieties, making it easy to weave into your floral story. Couples are really spoilt for choice.

We tend to encourage our couples to share the vision with us and we can help them to bring it to life with the flowers. In saying that though, if you have your heart set on a type of flower, it’s best to plan your date around the availability, to avoid disappointment. Florals such as the elusive peony, are only available for a couple of weeks throughout the year, however roses are available all year round.

Ceremony Flowers and Beyond

No matter where you are tying the knot, say “I do” surrounded by flowers as it can elevate your ceremony setting in the most beautiful way. Think floral towers, sculptural arches, ribbed plinths with asymmetric arrangements, or a romantic floral nest. Don’t forget to enhance the ambience with candles too.

We always recommend repurposing the ceremony flowers to style your reception venue. We love the idea of repurposing so that our clients get the most out of their budget and get to enjoy the beautiful flowers well into the night!

Balancing Pink in your Colour Palette

Pink is a stunning foundation colour to incorporate into your wedding, but make sure that you don’t let it take over. Use pink as a base to start with and to ground your wedding palette but incorporate other tones and shades to make it cohesive and palatable to the eye. For example, a palette of magenta, blush and coral can feel full and vibrant and can be combined with accents like bright, rich reds. Adding a touch of neutral or metallics in your styling helps to prevent the colour from being overpowering, instead enhancing it for your aesthetic.

Our rule of thumb is to have at least three shades of a colour to help bring dimension and to make it pleasing to the eye. Magenta, blush and coral give space for each colour to be seen and to work together to create an overall pleasing look. Teamed with another colour like red and emerald green, creates cohesive perfection.

Soft blushes, with other soft whites and ivories allow for a whimsical aesthetic and paired with rich green foliage, gives a luxe and dimension filled design.

When styling the rest of your wedding you don’t need to think “pink” is my colour, therefore everything must be pink to make it match. Negative space or neutrals allow for the pink to pop and not get lost with everything else which may be pink. This is where your stylist can help with ideas that enhance your palette, make it gorgeous to look at and bring your vision to life in a way that suits your theme.
