It took months of working in the same company before Aimee and Sebastian finally crossed paths – one chance encounter that would change their lives forever. When it came to their elegant wedding, classic styling was at the heart of their vision. With a refined black-tie wedding party, delicate white roses, and a dreamy backdrop, their celebration perfectly balanced romance and sophistication! And with every moment captured under the talented eye of West Creative, they can look back on every incredible detail forever.
They spent months working for the same company without ever meeting. Until, one ordinary day, Aimee drove down to the yards for some paperwork… and found something much more unexpected – Sebastian. “Seb was a car salesman, and I was on the admin team. He definitely caught my eye…”
Sebastian planned a birthday getaway for Aimee in Margaret River, telling her they were going away for a winter camping weekend. After a quick trip to Kathmandu to buy some puffer jackets, Aimee was ready to weather the cold. However, Her plans came to an abrupt halt when Sebastian dropped her off at Empire Spa Retreat with a full body massage and a facial… “This is where I knew it wouldn’t be a camping weekend, obviously thrilled! The lady had asked me if I wished to have a head massage too, in which she used oils – I obviously said yes (who would say no to a head massage); however, if I knew I was getting engaged 3 hours later, I probably would have declined that offer due to the state my hair was in after…” she shared.
“Anywayyy after leaving feeling relaxed we went for lunch at swings and roundabouts. After lunch, Seb had the idea to go to Injidup spa, where the rocks are, and take photos in our new Kathmandu jackets like the ads, so we made our way there, and I was setting up the camera to get the shot while Seb was finding the perfect spot to drop a knee! I was absolutely oblivious and had no idea when he dropped down, it was super special, even if I had a whole bottle of oil in my hair!”
Sebastian wore a classic black tuxedo from Suit Vault to match the elegant atmosphere of the day. “He looked very sharp and elegant. He always wanted a black suit and a black bow tie!”
His wedding party included his brother, sister, and best friend. They wore similar elegant black dresses and tuxedos.
Dressed in an elegant gown from True Society by Tuscany Bridal, Aimee looked the perfect part of a beautiful bride. “The dress itself was completely different in all ways than what I thought I wanted, but after trying on all the styles, I thought I liked but didn’t. I branched into more fitted items and fell in love with “the one”. It was a square-neck, fitted dress with beads and sparkles. It was so beautiful and SO different from what I wanted. The experience of trying on dresses was anxious to start, but Melinda at True Society made me super comfortable!!”
Within her own wedding party, Aimee had her two closest friends and Sebastian’s other sister! They wore these gorgeous Billy J dresses in a soft mushroom brown colour.
One heartwarming surprise during the getting ready portion of the day was the moment Aimee’s dad saw her dressed for the first time! “When he saw me in my dress, he completely broke down – he is not much of a crier at all. That was a very special moment for me.”
To finish off her look, Aimee wore her mum’s earrings from her wedding day and added a charm to symbolise her grandparents to her bouquet.
White roses from Amano Florals were the main floral of the day, with Aimee’s mother-in-law creating the big, beautiful linen flower centrepieces at the reception. These linen flowers also featured on the arbour at the ceremony, blowing beautifully in the wind.
Oakover Grounds was their venue of choice for the whole day. “It had a beautiful lake in the middle and a gorgeous vineyard. It was super spacious, a lot of greenery and vines.”
Aimee walked down the aisle to “I Get To Love You” by Ruelle. Walking with her brothers over the bridge before being handed over to her dad, who took her the rest of the way. Sebastian remembers this moment as his favourite of the whole day. “Seeing my wife in her dress walking down the aisle was something to remember… she was so beautiful.”
The ceremony was super nerve-wracking for Aimee, but she was also still incredibly excited to get married to her best friend! “But I felt an overwhelming feeling of love, not only from Seb but from all our family and friends, especially during our vows and when our celebrant was telling our story.”
Aimee and Sebastian also wanted to give a special mention to their celebrant, Lauren Pitt! “She absolutely nailed it. She told our story perfectly, and I wouldn’t have asked for anything better!”
The top five things that made their elegant wedding so special included:
“1. The beautiful scenery
2. Being surrounded by all our family and friends
3. Having the most amazing vendors – dream team!
4. Everyone was up and dancing on the dance floor; it was the best party ever!!
5. Being with my husband – the time we spent together on our wedding day is unforgettable.”
When asked about her favourite photo, Aimee had to really think – and even then, there is no one favourite when all your photos look this good! “Honestly, it’s so hard to choose one! I love the photos with my veil around the screen. Or some of the photos where Seb and I are laughing – I love those.”
Sandie West was the photographer for the day – and Aimee and Sebastian couldn’t have been happier with the outcome! “Oh, where to start!! Sandie was absolutely perfect, I could not recommend her more. She made us feel so comfortable and helped with the posing. She was just so genuine and was such a big part of the day. Even our wedding team couldn’t stop talking about her and how fun she made the group photo sessions!”
Most of this elegant reception styling was DIY’d by Aimee, Sebastian, and their community! The other standout feature of the reception styling was the stationary done by Starfish Lane! “Starfish Lane was amazing. They helped me throughout the whole process, from Save the Dates to menus – they were perfect!”
Their first dance was to “I Won’t Give Up’ by Chance Peña. Neither Aimee nor Sebastian would call themselves a natural dancer, so the pair swayed back and forth with the music. “It still felt so beautiful and intimate.”
Congratulations to Aimee and Sebastian on this incredible, elegant wedding! Thanks to West Creative for capturing and sharing these heartwarming photos with us!
