Making the most of the summer sunshine, Michaela and Scott had their elegant wedding in the glowing gardens of Wattle Park Chalet. With plenty of nods to their loves (animated films and animals), this native floral-filled event is one they won’t forget. With the dreamy styling done by Luoda Collective and captured by talented Kirra Jayde, we’re excited to dive in!
Like many modern couples, Michaela and Scott met on a dating app in 2015! Their first date was a (literal) whirlwind of emotions as they enjoyed Inside Out at the movies together.
While standing in front of the Hollywood sign in LA, Scott got down on one knee and proposed to Michaela in a beautiful display of devotion!
For Michaela, trying on dresses was her favourite part of planning this magical wedding! “The whole process was enjoyable, and we found it to be low-stress. We also put a lot of trust in our selected vendors (because we knew most of them personally to begin with) and left it in their capable hands after setting a budget.”
She wore a beautiful Truvelle Bridal dress from the lovely ladies at Moonstruck Bride. It was perfect for this summery day with its floaty silhouette, bow detail, and romantic feel. “I loved it because it was flowy, soft and romantic – and not overly structured as it was also important to me to be able to move and dance in it comfortably.”
Luoda Collective was the creative brains behind this gorgeous summer wedding, and created this beautiful banksia bouquet for Michaela. To pair with these banksias, guests found eucalyptus and green hydrangeas adorning every surface across the day!
Scott wore a charcoal grey coloured suit from Calvin Klein in a light summery fabric to beat off the heat of the day.
Opting for a fun, relaxed evening, Scott and Michaela skipped many of the day’s formalities – going without a wedding party or a first dance.
The elegant Wattle Park Chalet was their venue for the day, with their ceremony in the picturesque gardens. Followed by the dinner and reception inside the chalet. “It is a lovely old building and felt very romantic, especially decked out with the flowers and candles from our lovely decorating team at Luoda Collective.”
Michaela walked down the garden path aisle with her dad as their good friend played an instrumental cover of “Married Life” from the film Up!
Their ceremony was relaxed, joyful, short and sweet – with their celebrant Georgia Mills as their guide. “She talked about our history as a couple and what made us perfect for each other. We each read our own written vows before signing on the dotted line. Georgia was the absolute perfect choice – she kept things relaxed, joyful, and classy, added personal touches for us to the ceremony, and kept us smiling the whole time.”
Many of their vendor dream team were actually guests, as the couple decided they wanted to support the small businesses of their friends and family to celebrate their special day! “We mostly delegated to our vendors that we had hired to keep the day stress-free for us, as many of them were also guests.”
One of Michaela’s favourite photos was from this moment as she and Scott walked back down the aisle freshly married! “It’s that or the one of me and my dad walking up the aisle as I enter – he looks so proud!”
The wedding bands Michaela and Scott used on the day were actually her parents’ rings since she actually forgot to go shopping for their own! “Typical me!” she explained.
Kirra Jayde was the photographer for Michaela and Scott’s elegant summer wedding, and she did an incredible job of capturing the love and connection between them. “She knew exactly how to get good shots from everyone without disrupting the day or vibe. She was the perfect blend of approachable, professional, and producing incredible photos. I couldn’t believe how many moments she captured!”
Because Michaela and Scott are both huge animal lovers, one of her best friends hand-painted watercolours of their current pets and their childhood angel pets for each table, name card and seating chart design.
Luoda Collective transformed the reception space into this magical botanical beauty. Each and every detail was perfect, from the flowers to the table settings and bespoke printed menus, seating chart, bar set up, and, of course, the native bouquet!
The top five things that made this summer wedding so unique to Michaela and Scott included:
“1. Personal touches like the seating chart / table artwork.
2. Being lucky enough to have personal relationships with many of the vendors we engaged with, we could support friends’ businesses and be surrounded by people we loved on the day.
3. Trimming back on the amount of formalities meant we had more time to enjoy everything and weren’t rushing around
4. Having friends and family fly in from overseas and interstate was so incredible, and it was like a big reunion!
5. Each other!”
This fun retro-style cake from a local business, Miss Trixie Drinks Tea, was the perfect addition to the reception!
Priscilla from Best Baking Friends baked all of these gorgeous desserts and bespoke cat-themed cookies for guests to enjoy. Another beautiful nod to Michaela and Scott’s past and present furry friends!
Keeping everyone on their feet and the good vibes going was their wedding band, Fiction Entertainment! “They were so amazing and set a really fun and energetic tone for the night, as well as being so open to song selection and letting us request our favourites. We can’t recommend them enough.”
Please join us in giving Michaela and Scott here a huge congratulations on their beautiful summer wedding! Thanks to Kirra Jayde Photography for sharing it with us.
