In the heart of a misty forest, an enchanted wedding unfolded, weaving together love, nature, and magic. With soft candlelight flickering beneath the ferns and the emotions of heartfelt vows, this celebration felt like stepping straight into a fairytale. Every detail—from the earthy décor to the stunning forest backdrop—brought to life the ethereal vision of a couple deeply in love, creating Daisy and Rony’s wedding day filled with unforgettable moments and timeless beauty. And every moment was captured by the incredible – Shannan Griffiths Photography!

Daisy and Rony met in 2018 at the famous Melbourne Latin nightclub – Mendoza! When Daisy entered while on a girl’s night out, she and Rony locked eyes from across the room. “Later in the night, Daisy was dancing with her friends when she was knocked over by a couple making out and fell backwards into Rony’s waiting arms. As a thank you for saving her life, Daisy danced with Rony, and they hit it off immediately. They ate HSP, danced the night away, and have been together basically every day since then!”

Rony is originally from Colombia, and since he and Daisy were in Australia when COVID-19 hit, they could not meet his family until 2022. By this point, Rony knew with absolute certainty that he wanted Daisy as his wife – and was even more excited at the prospect of his family sharing that special moment. So, in 2022, they headed over to Colombia for a Christmas trip!

Daisy’s family joined them on the trip, and after Christmas, Daisy and Rony organised for everyone to head down to Cartagena, one of Daisy’s favourite places she’d travelled to. “The day before the proposal, Rony’s sister bought me a white outfit as a “gift”. His mum then told me she wanted to do a family photo with everyone on a small island off the coast of Cartagena. So we took a boat to the little island where everyone had lunch and then changed into white outfits for the “family photo”. Rony took me on a little walk to explore the island at sunset while the family ran to hide behind some bushes,” Daisy explained. “Rony then brought me to a little beach where a beautiful picnic and candles were set up. He proposed there, and then the family all jumped out, and everyone hugged and cried. It was the most perfect day!”

Rony wore this beautiful cream and mocha suit that perfectly matched the underlay of Daisy’s dress and the greenery of the forest surrounding them for the day.

For their wedding party, Daisy and Rony each had eight members on their side. The groomsmen wore chocolate brown suits, and the bridesmaids wore a variation of champagne, latte and chocolate brown dresses.

Daisy loved everything to do with wedding planning – so much, in fact, that it inspired her entrepreneurial spirit! “I am in the process of starting my own wedding planning business with one of my best friends (and bridesmaid), Shinya. Keep an eye out for D&S Events, coming soon!”

Her dress was this gorgeous white Evie Young gown with a mocha underlay from Luv Bridal. “I knew I wanted something ethereal and enchanted, and the floral and vine applique with the subtle sparkles just felt perfect for my vision.”

The venue for the weekend was the luscious Forest Weddings in Kinglake! “It was absolutely perfect! The ceremony space was amongst the ferns in the actual forest and could not have been more perfect for our vision. The reception space was undercover but outdoors with campfires and other cosy vibes. The venue also has accommodation on site, so over 60 guests could stay, making the night even more fun. The staff were fantastic – so kind and attentive and really made the day absolutely perfect!”

Opting for more greenery than actual flowers, moss and foliage were used to decorate the ceremony and reception spaces, with hints of baby breath and white wisteria. Daisy’s bouquet was a combination of daisies, ferns, greenery and other white accents. Each of her bridesmaids had a bouquet with one of those elements, so they all came together cohesively.

Since there was technically no aisle (being in a forest), Daisy walked with her dad down the candle-lined pathway to the glade where the ceremony was being held. Their friend Jasiah played an acoustic version of “Tenerife Sea” by Ed Sheeran as the bridesmaids walked and then transitioned into Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years” for Daisy. A very Twilight-esque entrance!

“The moment I saw Daisy coming down the aisle, that was the moment all my feelings came to the surface, and that was the moment that marked the climax of the day for me,” shared Rony.

Their ceremony was intimate, magical and full of enchanting love. “Daisy’s childhood best friend (who was 8.5 months pregnant at the time) married us. We wrote our own vows, which were heartfelt and made nearly everyone cry. The weather was misty, with rays of sunlight streaking through the ferns and candles flickered all around them. It was perfect!”

With so many incredible photos, Daisy couldn’t pick just one. But if she HAD to narrow it down, she’d say this shot of everyone throwing petals is one of her favourites! “I cannot pick just one; our photographer, Shannan Griffiths, was simply incredible. She captured the vibe perfectly and was just so much fun to work with (and so organised, too).”

On a day as special as this, it’s hard to pinpoint one singular moment as her favourite, so Daisy had a collection of their favourite moments: “I think for me, I loved all the special moments I had with my favourite people throughout the day. Singing “What Dreams Are Made Of” and doing tequila shots with my girls before the wedding, seeing Rony cry as I walked down the path with my dad and hearing the acoustic guitar reverberating through the forest was just incredible. The dance by the groomsmen (which was to No Guidance by Chris Brown and then Gasolina by Daddy Yankee) was one of the best things I’ve ever seen in my life! And my brother’s speech made me weep – shoutout to Lawson.”

Their photographer, Shannan Griffiths, went above and beyond to capture all of these enchanting moments for Daisy and Rony! “Shan was amazing. I would 1000% recommend her, along with our videographers Caity & Duncan. They were such a good team, and the footage they captured was the perfect mix of the ethereal forest wedding mixed with the raucous and wild after-party, where everyone danced their heart out!”

Another standout vendor for this couple is their venue – Forest Weddings! “I’d really recommend our venue, Forest Weddings (Michelle, Donna and her team) were just so helpful and genuinely invested in helping us have the perfect day. Our bar was also fantastic (Heaven7Events), as well as our food trucks (Signorino Pizza and Donut Panic). The florists also did an incredible job capturing our vibe (Poppy Culture).”

For wedding favours, Daisy and Rony created a shot board that said, “Take a shot and take a seat”. All the welcome signs were done by Daisy and her best friend/MoH, and all the goodie bags for guests who stayed the night.

One of their favourite inclusions of the day was their audio phone book! “It was such a fun touch, as well as the fairy floss and popcorn for snacks for the guests. The food was food trucks, all of which led to a festival-like feel. We had giant glow sticks and a CO2 for the after-party, and then we had a life-size Mario and Mickey Mouse come and dance with the guests. The groomsmen and the groom also did a dance for the bride at the start of the reception, which was so much fun!”

The top five things that made their day so special included:

“The first one is definitely the people. We had the most amazing group of people who supported us on the day. Our families, Rony’s groomsmen and my bridesmaids helped sooo much with everything from venue set up to cooking breakfast to the incredible cheese platter we had. We truly had an army. But beyond the wonderful support we received, the vibes were just perfect. Everyone was relaxed and cheerful the whole time, and we literally could not have had more fun – I genuinely was not even stressed! Besides our amazing community, I think also the setting (if you can’t tell, I love the forest), the music and dancing, the food and of course, my dress (and hair and makeup) was just perfect!”

As an ode to Rony’s Colombian heritage, Daisy and Rony did a combination of sensual bachata and spicy salsa as their first dance!

Congratulations, Daisy and Rony! And thanks to Michelle from Forest Weddings for submitting, and Shannan Griffiths for capturing this enchanting wedding.
