What do you get when you combine sunset-hued florals, a gelato cart, and a lakeside venue brimming with coastal charm? Jacynta and Mike’s peachy coastal wedding! This vibrant celebration was full of energy, laughter, and unexpected surprises—from a cheeky first dance to handmade brownie bonbonnières. With family, friends, and stunning scenery surrounding them, this couple threw a wedding that felt like one big joyful adventure! Sandie from West Creative and Jeff from Oikos Studios followed them throughout their journey and captured every special moment.
When Jacynta walked into her radiography practical, she had no idea that the supervisor training her would be her husband many years later! “I immediately realised how funny, clever, calm and kind Mike was, not to mention handsome!! It was very hard to concentrate on my prac, haha! We stayed friends for a couple of years after that and eventually went on a date 1.5 years later when I went to his work for some training!”
Flash forward a few years, and Jacynta turns to Mike, saying, “The weather is going to be great on Saturday – we should paint the fence!” To which he replied “Oh but I reallllly want to go for a hike! Can we go for a hike?? Please????” She thought this was strange because out of the two of them – she was the one who liked the hike…
So, on Saturday, they took off to Ellis Brook Valley to soak up the good weather (and definitely not ask any very important questions…).
“Mike brought the drone as we were going to Broome soon, and he wanted me to practice using it with him. So we get to the top of the beautiful waterfall, and Mike says he wants to wait for all the people to leave before sending the drone up. Eventually, after Mike got more and more annoyed by all the people, I said there was another nice bit a little bit further down the hiking track. If he wanted to go there instead, we would go. So off we went, and this is where Mikey did it!” Jacynta recounted. “He was ‘getting the drone out’ while I looked around at the scenery, and when I looked back, he was on one knee with the biggest, most ridiculously beautiful ring out! I burst out laughing and asked, ‘What is that?!?!? Is that real?!?!?! What are you doing?! Get up!!’ Mike was very sad that I was laughing and said, ‘You didn’t say yes!’ To which I said, ‘Of course!!’ He told me he had organised for us to go to Bib and Tucker for dinner at sunset as he knew it was my favourite, and then I cried!! It sunk in on the walk back to the car, and I realised we weren’t going to paint the fence that day, haha!!”
Mike chose the perfect coastal wedding attire – a beige suit that he custom-made with Institchu! He picked out a cheeky dog portrait for the inner layer of his suit and went with a relaxed look of no tie, braces and hidden socks to create a gap between his brown loafers and his pants. “Very handsome and modern and weather-appropriate for our summery day!”
His wedding party included his brother and two of his long-time friends. Wearing a similar look sans blazer.
Jacynta had three bridesmaids in her wedding party – her sister and her childhood friends, who are twins! They wore these gorgeous peachy-coloured gowns from L’idee with some gold accessories to match.
For her own attire, Jacynta chose a beautiful Martina Liana gown from Tuscany Bridal. She finished her look with closed-toe shoes, simple gold jewellery to match her wedding party, and a messy bun with fresh flowers blooming. “I wanted something that reflected my personality somewhat. Chilled, not too showy, with a touch of glitter/shimmer and some fun (the flowers). I loved it! I loved the thin straps and the shape and the way the sequins caught the light, and I loved the playful flowers.”
Their ceremony took place at the beautiful Nedlands Yacht Club, surrounded by sun, water and luscious green grass. “We loved this venue so much! It is very much reflective of our personalities being a chill, outdoorsy venue by the water. We loved working with the team at NYC – they were so organised, accommodating, and helpful, and they were a dream to work with. They helped make us feel so relaxed, and we enjoyed the flexibility of the venue so much! Would highly recommend.”
Jacynta walked down the aisle with her dad, Tim, as an acoustic rendition of “Everlong” by Foo Fighters floated through the air.
Wanting a relaxed, happy, and fun ceremony, Jacynta and Mike made the right choice by bringing Kirk Goodsell on as their celebrant. “We wanted it to be fun and happy, not too soppy, and it was just that! Kirk did an absolutely fab job of nailing the brief! We chose to have The Lovely Dinosaur and Weird by Dr Seuss as our readings.”
All of these gorgeous peachy florals were created byAnnaliese from Signature Floral Design. “Isn’t she a wizard?!?! We wanted beautiful, bright summer sunset colours and left Annaliese to have creative freedom and boy; she didn’t disappoint! It’s one of our favourite things about our wedding, and the photos absolutely popped! We got soooo many compliments on the flowers, so they were worth it.”
To celebrate their cocktail hour, Jacynta and Mike hired a gelato cart from Cono Gelato for guests to enjoy in the dwindling heat of the day. “It’s one of our fave bits! Gelato is my fave thing in the world!! We had these after the ceremony and made sure we got a gelato cheers photo.”
Sandie from West Creative was their photographer for the day and did an incredible job capturing the peachy vibes. “Sandie is not only so talented but also the nicest person ever! We literally became friends that day. She was so funny and kind and did what she needed to do to get the shots. They looked amazing! We love her.”
When asked what her favourite photo was, Jacynta couldn’t choose! “So many! Sandie is incredible. We love the gelato cheers, the one of us going up the stairs, me looking back, and the one of us on the foreshore laughing!”
Many of Jacynta’s friends know her as a serial baker and even call her Nonna, so it was no surprise when she decided to create brownies for their bonbonieres. “I thought it would be a shame not to bake something for everyone! So I made brownies and my mum, Mike’s mum, my sister and Aunty all boxed them up beautifully as the little bonboniere. It was a total hit!”
Jacynta’s favourite details of the day included the flowers, the funny and happy vibes, the gelato, the incredible food from Supper Road, their first dance and most of all, being surrounded by all their friends and family who had travelled from far and wide to celebrate!
The top five things that made their peachy coastal wedding so special included:
“1. The husbie haha,
2. Our family and friends being around us,
3. The fun vibes and the feeling of so much love around us,
4. The incredible food, including the gelato,
5. The gorgeous flowers and how well everything looked together!”
Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel” was their first dance song, and they had a secret up their sleeves to shock guests! “We both ADORE Michael Jackson and this song was so our vibe! Fun and quirky with lots of showy moves. I am a dancer, so everyone expects me to be the star, but we secretly planned for Mike to steal the show, as he is secretly the best dancer ever! He whipped out the moonwalk and some shuffling paired with some cheeky faces and was an absolute legend! We finished with a beautiful lift and had the best time doing our special dance!”
Congratulations Jacynta and Mike! Your peachy coastal wedding was gorgeous. Thanks to West Creative for capturing and sharing it with us!
