A sentimental wedding with glam touches is just the ticket for today, Dotties! Ash & Kye’s romantic & soft glamour wedding, captured by Perla Photography at Lindenderry Red Hill, combined some time-old traditions with modern touches that made the day perfect for the couple and their loved ones. As Ash says, “We wanted romantic, soft, and a little bit of glam. We wanted it to be a party with the joining of our families and friends to celebrate our love!” Ash tells us about how they came to be and about their stunning wedding…

We met on Tinder! Funnily enough, we both weren’t looking for anything serious but decided to have a ‘no strings attached’ date at the local pub in Glen Waverley. We instantly clicked and our ‘no strings attached’ date turned into something extra special.

Kye had an accident at work which resulted in him needing shoulder surgery. I had the job of looking after him over his long recovery and as a thank you, Kye had planned a special surprise date day. He had arranged for me to get my nails done and told me to wear something I’d be happy to take some photos in. I was so onto him. He knew I was catching onto his plans so he had arranged a decoy that we were attending a friend’s birthday in the city after our date so my hopes of a romantic proposal were put on hold. Sure enough, we get down to a beautiful picnic set up on our date with a sign saying – ‘You’re my one in ten billion, make it forever?’. Kye pulled out my beautiful ring and got on one knee to propose. Of course, I said yes! He even arranged for a photographer to hide in the bushes to capture the very special moment. It was perfect!

Kye wore an ivory jacket and black pants from InStitchu with a bow tie. He wanted to keep the traditional feel of a wedding suit, whilst adding something to differentiate from his groomsmen, who wore a full black suit.

My dress was a ‘princess’ style from Christina Rossi. A big skirt, a long train, and a bodice covered in beautiful applique. I wanted something that I would never be able to wear again – that made me feel like a bride.

I wore my mother’s sapphire ring as my ‘something blue’. It was really special having this as I know how much she loves that ring that was given to her by my dad.

Quite a few things were DIY’d. Buying a Cricut and having a very handy father was an absolute saver. We had our arbor, ceiling hanging, welcome sign, and seating chart all made for our wedding. They looked fantastic!

I wanted to make sure that all of our immediate family was really included in our day in some way. Dad walked me down the aisle to “I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Mraz, mum got ready with me and walked our page boy down the aisle, my sister was my maid of honour, Kye’s dad was our MC, Kye’s mum was our ring bearer and Kye’s sister read our poem at the ceremony. Seeing each other for the first time walking down the aisle was one of our favourite moments from the day. The emotion was so raw.

I had always wanted to have a garden wedding. The bottom garden at Lindenderry was so ideal for this. It felt secluded, intimate, and romantic. We wrote our own vows and it was the best decision. From the heart and captured our commitments to one another on such a personal level. We had Kye’s sister do a reading from a poem we found at a market when we first started dating. It’s by Kiersten White from “The Chaos of Stars.”

We had Perla Photography for the day – and we were so impressed. She was so professional on the day. She knew exactly how to make everyone look so natural in our photos and captured the emotion of the day so perfectly. Her photo editing is so light and bright – a perfect reflection of how we wanted our day to be.

Our favourite photo is us standing forehead to forehead between the trees. It’s so magical – we have this framed in our living room and it makes me smile every day.

We loved our flowers and worked with a wonderful vendor. Being a summer wedding, I wanted to incorporate hydrangeas into the flowers and wanted to have pops of pink throughout. Kate from Millicent Green went above and beyond for us to make our florals exceed our expectations. My bouquet was just stunning!

We LOVED working with Kate. She went above and beyond for us. She really listened to what we wanted to achieve and helped work with the vision to bring it to life. She honestly felt like a friend.

We had a special self-choreographed number that we created. Kye nailed the dance and it was so fun and ‘us’. We danced to “Everything” by Michael Bublé.

Our best advice was making sure we had time for each other on the day. You spend so much time planning and getting swept up in the excitement of the day that we wanted to make sure we concentrated on the most important part of our wedding – US! The day was so hectic that it was truly so special to pull ourselves away and watch our family and friends have an amazing time. Also communicating and understanding the other person. It makes life together much easier when you are both on the same page.

Picking Lindenderry was a super easy choice for us – it catered to our needs for a stunning garden ceremony location, having the reception venue on the same site, as well as the ability for guests to stay the night if they wished. It made our day really seamless and the grounds, reception venue, and staff were all amazing.

It was the most amazing service from the staff. I always felt listened to with our questions and requirements. The Lindenderry team was always so happy to make our ideas a reality.

The vendors that we chose made the day. They are the key to making your day special. We recommend choosing like-minded people who can work well with you and become like friends in your wedding planning journey.

Their wedding was filmed by Momento Films.

Thank you to Ash & Kye for sharing their beautiful wedding day, and to Perla Photography for sharing their stunning images.
