If there’s one thing we love here at Polka Dot Wedding – it’s a colourful wedding gown! Today’s editorial shoot features a gorgeous blue, tiered gown from Millia London. When we think of tropical weddings, the first things that usually come to mind are sunshine, casual dress codes and lots of beachy vibes. But this styled shoot showcases how luxurious and beautiful a tropical wedding can be – with the right dress, location and atmosphere.
Inspired by the sparkling blue waters around Uluwatu in Bali, this editorial highlights how you can have your beach wedding without giving up the colour or the dress of your dreams. “Often during tropical weddings, brides may dress more casually for a beach vibe. But I loved how this editorial went the other way, showing how luxe and beautiful getting married at a beachside venue can be,” says Joanne Keighery.
Dreamed up by Amanda from AMV Weddings, this inspiration shoot was set at Tirtha Glasshouse, one of the many high-end luxury wedding vendors found in Bali. The lush florals by Sweet Bella and the beautiful tiered cake by Lenovelle add another layer of luxury, showing the importance of styling and high-quality vendors.
During the shoot, photographer Joanne Keighery took inspiration from this incredible gown to create these beautiful effects with natural lighting. Using the lighter blues to catch the sun and the deeper blues to show the dimension of the gown.
By pinning the model’s hair up in a loose bun and keeping her makeup natural, Madeline Eleanor created the perfect beachy look while still letting the gown shine brightest. The minimal but statement accessory pieces from Megan Therese complement the gown, and the pearls from the earrings bring an oceanic element to the whole look. Tiny jewels dusting the Charlotte Mills heels create a dew drop effect that makes the model look like she strolled through the beach before arriving.
