Elegant, modern, and filled with bursts of colour, Wendy and Jeff celebrated their marriage with an unforgettable event. Minimal in styling but maximum in flare, this couple took their first steps of marriage surrounded by the most important things to them – their friends, family and the water.

Tealily Photography captured the beautiful elegance of Wendy and Jeff’s wedding, while Paper Cranes Weddings filmed everything.

Wendy and Jeff met as many modern couples do – with the help of a dating app. “We met online through Hinge. It was my first online dating experience, and well, it all worked out!” She explained.

It was during Sydney’s lengthy lockdowns when Jeff proposed, taking advantage of the five-person picnic rule to include her best friend. “Jeff proposed during lockdown at the Royal Botanical Gardens with my best friend, her husband, and another friend who took photos – I was shocked, and it was an amazing surprise.”

Leaning towards a classic style with a modern twist, Wendy’s gown featured lace details, a full skirt and a deep V neckline. Her dress, which she had purchased from Helen Rodrigues, was designed by UK designer Suzanne Neville.

Her wedding party got ready at Double Bay Intercontinental, with Wendy adding, “I loved the garden there, and the interior of the hotel was beautiful.” Her bridesmaids wore different styles of silky gowns in matching shades of salmon.

Jeff and his wedding party got ready for the day at his apartment, dressing in matching tuxes with a pink floral boutonniere. Elegant and classy – perfect to match the atmosphere of the day ahead of them. “Jeff likes his suits made and is particular in style. He knew that he wanted to wear a tux.”

Once everyone was ready for the day ahead, the wedding party met up for Wendy and Jeff to have their first look at this beautiful stone patio. The group took advantage of this time and had a pre-ceremony photoshoot.

The flowers and ceremony styling were done by The Curious Florist, filling the bouquets and decor with bright colours and a wide variation of flowers.

Trish from Tealily Photography was in charge of photography for Wendy and Jeff, and she perfectly captured the elegance and colourful charm of the day. “She was attentive and nice, and we got along really well with her.”

After the pre-ceremony shoot had finished, it was time for the wedding party to head over to their venue for the day. Sergeants Mess was their pick, as it was right on the waterfront – something they both loved. “Wendy is a water baby; she loves being outdoors, snorkelling, and swimming,” Jeff shared.

As she walked down the aisle, Wendy held onto her father’s arm. As she made it halfway down, her mother joined the pair, and the trio completed their journey towards Jeff

Their celebrant, Julie Winters, led the ceremony. The couple moved through their vows, readings and promises until they finally wrapped up this portion of their wedding with an “I Do”. “I was happy and sad – as I’m the only child, my parents mean a lot to me. And Jeff was just happy, hehe!” Wendy described.

Bubbles showered the newlyweds as they made their way back down the aisle and moved the celebrations to the reception space. This was Jeff’s favourite part of the night, saying, “seeing my family and friends and celebrating with them.”

The speeches were Wendy’s favourite part of the night: she loved hearing what her loved ones shared and laughing together.

For their first dance, Wendy and Jeff took Ballroom dancing lessons, which was their favourite part of the planning process. They danced to “Isn’t She Lovely/Fly Me To The Moon” by Ali and Alana. Wendy changed into her reception outfit for their dance, swapping into a stunning red one-shoulder moment.

This elegant floral adorned cake was made by the talented Petals Cakery, which the couple cut just before enjoying some more speeches.

Special Snaps supplied the Photobooth for guests to enjoy, providing a fun backdrop for some staged photos. The one element Wendy and Jeff DIY’d was these adorable love heart lights for guests to hold as the couple exited the venue and took off the night.

Included in their wedding traditions, Wendy and Jeff hosted a Tea Ceremony on a separate day from their wedding. Allowing them to be present at both events without rushing through anything.

Thanks to Tealily Photography for capturing the elegant beauty of Wendy and Jeff’s wedding. And a huge congratulations to Wendy and Jeff on this beautiful wedding!
