With today the debut of The Style Issue, we thought there was no better time for a sneaky peek behind the scenes of New York Wedding Fashion Week. Twice a year designers come from all over the world to show off beautiful gowns in New York City and twice a year our inbox is filled with the latest and most amazing gowns and wedding attire.

Today, we’re sharing the runway of Galia Lahav and the designer’s Spring 2024 collection, entitled “Amor”. And yes, as if the name did not give it away, the word pulled from the iconic Spanish opera “Carmen” which was the inspiration for the collection.

The story of a passionate love of a soldier and the fiery and independent Carmen. “Love is a child of Bohemia. It has never known any law.” And that line? It’s the one that every gown in this collection drew from. Roses delivered with the first love note echoing their way throughout the pieces, the drama, the passion for Carmen and the story, and the fiery Spanish disposition all cast throughout the gowns. There are dramatic low backs and sheer panels, high necklines, long sleeves ever layered skirts that honour the skirts of Flamenco dancers.

“I wanted to create a collection that celebrates the unbridled spirit of love” shares head designer Sharon Sever. “Our couture bride wants to stand out so I am inspired by Carmen as a way to help our bride do that,” he says. “She is regal, yet unapologetic. And, as cliché as it sounds, we want her dream to come true.”
