Looking for an easy DIY for your wedding that looks really, really impressive? Look no further than our gorgeous shower bombs – like the humble bath bomb, with just as much loveliness and with much less fuss. Quick and simple to whip together, these sweetly scented, fizzy spa bombs will be well-loved by all lucky enough to get one.
What You Will Need:
- Recipe – 1C bicarb soda, 1/2C citric acid, 1/4C cornflour, 1tsp water, 40 drops peppermint essential oil, 20 drops eucalyptus essential oil, 30 drops lavender essential oil
- Dried petals or herbs (you can easily DIY)
- Moulds (you can use ice cube trays, candle moulds etc)
- Mixing bowl, spoon, cooling rack
- Bags or boxes to gift wrap the shower bombs in
Step One
To use your own dried flowers or herbs, select blooms that have been grown organically, and that are clean and dry. Spread them out on a clean surface (pop some paper towel underneath for excess moisture if necessary), and simply leave them to dry out for 1-2 days. Make sure they are thoroughly dried before use.
Step Two
Gather together your dry ingredients, and whisk them together. Add the essential oils, and stir them thoroughly. The oil won’t activate the fizziness of the shower bomb, so take your time to ensure the oils are dispersed well. Working quickly, add the water (the mixture will fizz) and mix it in. The faster you can disperse the water through the mixture, the better.
Step Three
Pop your beautifully dried flowers into the moulds, then press the mixture in firmly. Leave the shower bombs to dry for 24-36 hours in the moulds (if the mould is on the larger side, leave it a little longer). Tip them out gently, and leave them to dry another 24 hours, before storing in an airtight container until needed.
Be sure to keep these gorgeous shower bombs away from moisture before presenting them as gifts. To use, simply place them on your shower floor while you shower, and they will release a delicious scent, making you feel as though you are quite the fancy pants enjoying your own personal spa. Just lovely!
