With an elegant dress code, a stunning venue and all the children thrown into the mix, there was no doubt that Caddie & Ty’s wedding was well and truly done their way.

At the beautiful country venue, Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa, the couple chose a day filled with roses (right down to pretty blush pink) and combined it all with tones of rich black. The layered look, along with a Champagne tower, is perfect for the brisk Autumn day. And not only was their chosen venue stunning as a backdrop (as evidenced by the beautiful imagery shot by Kelly Tunney), but the venue, as it turns out, also holds a special place in Caddie & Ty’s hearts – it’s the very place they became engaged!

Caddie recalled “Ty and I visit Lake Crackenback often, this weekend we also took along my parents so we could do the mountain bike ride from Thredbo to the resort. Towards the end of the 20km bike ride, Ty suggested we go off track to check out the beautiful river. I was thoroughly unimpressed to think this would add any further distance to our already long ride. Once there he pulled out a ring from under his bike seat and dropped to one knee.
The moment was captured by a complete stranger who could see what was about to unfold. We are so grateful for him to have some photos to reflect on.”

Ty went for black tie glam in a beautiful Hugo Boss suit, explains Caddie “The jacket was velvet with a satin collar. It was stunning and of course, the only one he tried on. He knew it was the one for him.”

When we say this day was family filled? “We had our three young children and my twin nephews as flower girls and page boys” explains Caddie. “The girls wore a beautiful pink tulle dress with a black satin bow and the boys looked handsome in their black pants and suspenders with their white shirts. They stole the show with their cuteness.

Caddie chose a beautiful custom Prea James gown, sharing  “Finding THE dress at the time had its challenges due to the covid restrictions. I fell in love with the beautiful heavy satin Prea James uses in her gowns and had it altered to suit the style I was after. It was comfortable and lovely to wear!”

The day was filled with beautiful styling by Sweet Little Sunday, including lush roses throughout the Thorn & Snow created floral arrangements. “The flowers were a standout and seeing what the styling team had set up for us” remembers Caddie.  “I sent Nicole from Thorn and Snow a couple of inspo pics but I really left it up to her. The brief for the flowers was ‘flower bomb me with roses’.

The flowers were stunning! It was nice to be surprised with the set-up after months of planning all the details. The roses were my special element. Roses hold a special place in my heart. They remind me of my grandma and my dad’s garden growing up.”

The couple chose the all-in-one Snowy Mountain venue Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa for their wedding weekend.  “The Lake Crackenback Resort and Spa was the most beautiful location for a wedding. The ease of having the ceremony, reception and accommodation in one location was fantastic. The events team couldn’t have been more helpful in the planning and on the day. I would highly recommend it.

All our vendors were amazing. I couldn’t narrow it down! The tasting at Lake Crackenback was such a fun experience. We had a private lunch where we were served a selection of dishes to pick for the meal at the reception.”

Caddie walked down the aisle with her dad to Callum Scott’s “You Are The Reason”.

The couple chose a ceremony that would make way for the reception.  “Our ceremony was short and sweet. We didn’t want our story told at the ceremony by the celebrant so it could be told during the speeches at the reception. We wrote our vows, it was emotional but I’m so pleased we did it our way. It was beautiful.”

“I made a couple of things, the dried floral confetti, our vows books” remembers Caddie, “but the best decision for our wedding was hiring a wedding stylist. Sweet Little Sunday from Canberra, styled and set up and packed down the whole thing. It was amazing!”

Live music (perfect for cupcakes and cocktails) throughout the day was all down to Baker Boys Band.

Caddie has plenty of advice for yet-to-be-married couples in the midst of planning.  “I definitely recommend booking a pre-wedding photo shoot before the wedding. I wish we had done this! A wedding stylist is definitely worth it! You can focus on yourself and not the set-up. Also, book the videographer, I didn’t and now wish we did.”

“Kelly and Dan made us feel so comfortable” raves Caddie of the couple’s photographers. “I truly underestimated how uncomfortable I would be being the centre of attention on the day. Kelly captured the day beautifully. The shots tell a story of the day in the most perfect, natural way. Our photographer was the first vendor we booked. I wasn’t having anyone else capture our day.

I love all the photos of the ceremony around the flowers but the shoot Kelly took us in before the reception along the creek is stunning. Kelly took some gorgeous shots of my children. The shots are all so natural and she captured my baby’s personality perfectly.”

The reception kicked off with a champagne tower, toasts and the cutting of the cake.

Of course with such family focus for the day, it makes sense that the speeches, perfectly heartfelt were such a favourite part, says Caddie. “A highlight of the day, is certainly one of the speeches at the reception. A dear friend of mine has such a way with words. She wrote a ‘once upon a time’ story about my husband and I from when we met. Every guest was in tears of laughter. It was the best wedding speech I’ve ever heard!”.

An iconic first dance? Why yes, Caddie & Ty did indeed make it happen. “Surprisingly to our guests, Ty and I took dancing lessons to learn part of ‘”The Time of your life” dance from Dirty Dancing. I didn’t want to sway to the music so we thought dance lessons to learn the routine would be fun. It was such a fun experience. The lessons and the practice in the lead-up was a such nice thing to do together. It definitely didn’t go to plan on the night but our guests got the idea.”

Congratulations Caddie & Ty! What a joy of a day to be so lucky to share. Thank you both and thank you to Kelly Tunney for sharing today’s beautiful celebration with us.
