Fire dancers, jumping castles and a light that was utterly golden. When Dani and Vicki tied the knot, there was nothing about it done by halves. The pair decided on a day that embraced its country rustic setting with plenty of fun!

Inviting SomethingsWild to join them behind the camera, they celebrate their day at the beautiful country venue The Barn On the Ridge. An intimate, heartfelt ceremony making way for all the celebrations to come. This was an occasion, that with all the trimmings (did we mention the gelato?) and all the fun, was one to remember (not least because they handed over the wedding planning details to the pros at The Wedding and Event Creators!).

After meeting online way back in 2014, the pair’s relationship soon blossomed with daily phone calls. Finally, they decided enough was enough and decided to meet up at the local train station. They admit “We’ve been inseparable ever since. Joined by the hips.”

After planning a trip in 202 to New Zealand to celebrate a friend’s wedding, Dani decided to jump on the opportunity to ask Vicki to marry her, the pair remembering “We went to a beautiful waterfall that Vicki grew up going to and Dani pop the question, the rest is history.”

And these two were not only lucky enough to have SomethingsWild capture their photos, but the team, also captured their day on film! “We had the amazing duo SomethingsWild photographer and videographer shoot our special day. Being husband and wife, they were chill, and down to earth, making each moment that more special and giving off such great energy throughout the day. Helped bring out extrovert Vicki on the day.”

Dani wore not one, but two dresses on the day. “I wore a white dress for the ceremony and changed for reception into a beautiful floral dress. It was pretty easy to pick what to wear. I don’t usually wear dresses but they suit me a lot and thought it would be a wonderful idea to wear a white dress on our day.”

Vicki went for four different looks! She tells “I wore a white suit with heels for the ceremony, reception had multiple outfits, a red dress for our walk-in, my traditional Samoan outfit for my performance and then just a plain white short jumpsuit. I chose the suit cause I left things a little late for a dress, red dress was planned because red is my colour, the traditional outfit was for my Samoan dance, and the white short jumpsuit was towards the end of the night just for comfort.”

The couple chose to do a first look, a moment they both mark as their favourite.  “Having that special moment with each other. No words can describe the feeling we felt during that time.”

Dani and Vicki chose The Barn On The Ridge for their day. “We chose this because of the location and the all-in-one venue. We loved all the options around the venue to pick from to hold our ceremony, and cocktail hour & use the barn for our reception. With the endless photo opportunities and views of the Pigeon House mountain, it was a no-brainer for us. We love spending time down the coast and it was a perfect fit for us.”

Both Dani and Vicki walked (ran?) down the aisle themselves to Beyonce’s “Who Runs The World (Girls)”. The pair decided to skip a centre aisle, walking on either side of their guests down the aisle.

The couple were married by Coastal Ceremonies in a sweet and simple ceremony. “Our ceremony was very intimate with those close to our hearts” they explain, “we wanted our ceremony to be personal, relaxed, light-hearted with a dash of humour.”

Doing so much of the wedding themselves, Dani and Vicki handed all the stress (and the reigns) over to wedding planner and stylists The Wedding and Event Creators. “The venue is all about DIY and a lot of it was DIY with the help of The Wedding and Event creators. We hired a lot of things from them and tried to keep things as local as possible with other vendors. Our light arch in the garden was an inspo from a video we saw on YouTube.

The majority of the DIY was put together by The Wedding and Event Creators. We hired what we wanted and gave them our inspo board and they did not disappoint. Handing it over to our wedding planner was our favourite part!”

The blooms on the day centred around the rustic styling, styled by BotanicArt. Share Dani & Vicki “We chose natives with red and light pink flowers; we chose this as natives are our favourite flowers and also went well with our theme of rustic.”

“All vendors were amazing!! We couldn’t have done it without each and every one of them. From the venue to our wedding coordinators to our photographer and videographer, to our wonderful celebrant, the food, alcohol, our dear friend who stepped up to be our MC, the Saxophone player, our amazing dessert and cake from our close friends, fire dancer, our lovely florist, hairstylist, makeup artist, traditional outfit, grazing by our lovely sister, can’t forget about the gelato bike. They all played a part in making our day that much more special.”

Dani and Vicki share this advice. “Stick to a budget, get a wedding planner, and if possible, and keep it intimate as it’ll be more memorable (our preference); everyone is different. Make it your day. Don’t worry about what others may think. They’re there to celebrate you and your other half becoming one.”

There were so many delightful parts of the day. “In particular our caterer Get in the Q, Saxophone by Bo Pang, Fire dancer by Justyce and jumping castle from Colourful Castles. We loved creating our light tunnel to lead us to the jumping castle. One of our most memorable moments was when we, being newlyweds, we snuck into the kitchen during cocktail hour to munch on the delicious hot appetizers GetInTheQ were serving up and not being caught out.”

Do you get the feeling these two live their life with passion and romance?  Even their first dance nailed it! “Our first dance was just magical, a few tears, smiles, singing while being held by the other and no choreographed routine included as we both have left feet haha. The two of us dancing to one of our favourite artists MAJOR “Why I Love You”.”

In honour of her Samoan heritage, Vicki surprised Dani by changing into a traditional Samoan outfit, the moment one of Dani’s favourites.  “Vicki went MIA to put on her traditional outfit while I was busy entertaining the guests & almost catching her out but got stopped by friends who ended up giving me more drinks and took me back inside.”

Big congratulations to you both Dani &  Vicki. Thank you for sharing your beautiful wedding day story with us. Thank you also to SomethingsWild and The Wedding and Event Creators for sharing today’s celebration with us.
