Could there be a better way to spend a day (and a birthday for that matter), surrounded by family and friends, with good food, and good wine at a favourite local restaurant? We think not and it turns out, Lynn and Dennis agreed! The pair tied the knot on Dennis’s 70th birthday, on a rainy Byron Bay day with their love story right at the heart of it all.
It was love at first sight when the couple met 30 years ago. “We haven’t been apart since!” shared Lynne, who finally caved on Dennis’ third proposal. “Den had asked three times over the 30 years without success but it was mainly due to me feeling we were too old to be married again.”
Don’t know about you, but we’re pretty thrilled these two made it happen, and asked Sam Wyper Photography along to document it. A day so long overdue, and that, in itself is one of Lynne’s very favourite parts. “I love that we are finally married after 30 years and five kids,” Dennis adding “My favourite part of the day was doing something that we should have done the first night we met.”
“Sam Wyper was fantastic” notes Lynne. “He just blended throughout the day. One of the things that made our day so special was having Sam as the photographer”.
Lynne donned a beautiful red and white Carla Zampatti dress, sharing “The experience was fantastic but due to illness I wore the first dress I tried on which was a Carla Zampatti waterfall dress.”
The couple played Ed Sheerran’s “Thinking Out Loud” as they entered their ceremony, held inside (thanks to rain!) at Bask & Stow.
The couple’s granddaughter was tasked with the important job of presenting the rings. “Our granddaughter Maggie who was 3 presented our rings, dropping them and wouldn’t let us look for them as she wanted to do it!”
Having her 93 year old mother as a part of the day was one of the best parts for Lynne, who, along with Dennis ask her mother and sister to be their witnesses on the day.
The newlyweds celebrated their marriage (and Dennis’ 70th birthday) at Harvest Newrybar with a private meal.
There was a first dance! Lynne and Dennis chose “A Song for you” by Willie Nelson for their dance floor debut.
All the congratulations to you both Lynne and Dennis. We are so honoured to be able to tell the story of your wedding. Thank you both and thank you to Sam Wyper Photography for sharing today’s story with us!
