Coastal, relaxed, fun and warm… Hannah and Dillon’s wedding is definitely a vibe! They tied the knot at Portsea Surf Life Saving Club in the last few days of summer and were one of the first couples to hold their wedding at this amazing venue. This fitted them perfectly as they both have an extensive background in the lifesaving community. From the stunning venue to the gorgeous florals and an intimate first look, there’s so much inspiration to be drawn from this day if you’re looking for ways to inject sentiment and coastal styling into your own wedding. Responsible for the joyful images you’re about to see? Kyle of Valley & Peak, who has known Hannah and Dillon for almost 20 years!
But before we deep dive into their wedding, let’s find out how Hannah and Dillon got engaged. The couple, who first met in high school, were having a picnic on the Mornington Peninsula when Dillon popped the question on a beautiful rugged beach – he even filmed the entire thing using a drone!
Hannah’s wedding dress was from Georgia Young Couture. “I tried on so many dresses that I loved but found none felt right at the time,” says Hannah. “I wanted to have that instant feeling of knowing it was the one.” It wasn’t until she went to Georgia Young that she had that instant feeling and no other dresses came close to comparing. “I wanted elegant but modern at the same time. The experience was fun yet overwhelming!”
Dillon and his groomsmen chose beige linen pants and jackets from Peter Jackson to suit the costal vibes. They paired this with a white linen shirt, brown loafers and a brown belt to match. Later in the night, the pants were swapped out for tan shorts so they could all get into the dance floor!
Having first look photos was one of the biggest highlights of the day, with the couple saying it was an intimate and beautiful moment they will never forget. “First look photos were our favourite decision we made. Your wedding goes so quickly and we decided we wanted to spend every second with those we love, so that’s why we decided to do this prior to the wedding.”
As for their ‘I do’ crew? Hannah and Dillon had five groomsmen and five bridesmaids. The bridesmaids wore a white pearl one strap dress from Petal & Pup.
Behind the camera on the day was Kyle of Valley & Peak, who the couple say was incredible and made it a fun experience by making them laugh the entire time! “He was so relaxed and that really rubbed off on us,” says Hannah. “It truly felt like he was just a part of our wedding party and it was very easy and natural.”
The couple held their ceremony and reception at Portsea Surf Life Saving Club, which had a fun and relaxed atmosphere and was the perfect venue for them.
For the florals, Hannah and Dillon used mainly white flowers but also wanted it to feel warm at the same time. They decided to incorporate flowers of pale pink, beige and brown to create a welcoming atmosphere.
Having both of her parents walk her down the aisle was a special moment for Hannah. They walked down to ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ by Elvis.
The couple describe their ceremony as funny and down-to-earth – just how they like it! Their celebrant, Shannon Jeans, was incredible and created a relaxed yet upbeat vibe. “Shan decided to include a reading from our fur babies, saying they would love to be here today to help celebrate!” says Hannah. “We are crazy animal lovers and thought this was something unique and we loved it!”
Their first dance was to ‘Bloom’ by The Paper Kites and was short and sweet. After the first chorus, Hannah and Dillon asked everyone to join them. “We created the dance only the night before,” says Hannah. “It was last minute but that’s what we loved because we just laughed the entire time as we both have two left feet! I’m definitely glad we just went with the flow rather then stressing every footstep of a routine and we were able to just wing it and take it all in.”
Having a live band (Jack and Jordon) created a fun mood for their reception. The couple decided to include a basket of thongs for the dance floor so everyone could dance the entire night. They also booked a recovery lunch for everyone to attend the next day, which they say was a great way to extend the celebrations and give everyone a chance to catch up again and make a weekend out of it.
Hannah and Dillon had amazing vendors who helped bring their vision for their big day to life! “From our beautiful photos to our music and the setup, everything was exactly as we imagined and more. Having a wedding coordinator definitely took away the stresses when you are so busy trying to socialise and take it all in.”
Congratulations to Hannah and Dillon – what a day! You can definitely see the love and joy in your amazing wedding photography, and we’re so thrilled you had the day of your dreams. Thank you for sharing your story with us. We’d also like to thank Valley & Peak for sharing their gorgeous imagery with us.
