Zee Scott is multi talented, being both the creator of these gorgeous cakes you see here, and a celebrant (The British Celebrant). (Her background in performance art shines through in her work as a Wedding and Event MC too).
A daughter of a royal icing specialist, Zee’s cakes have a vintage twist with voluptuous decorations of swags and ruffles that make you just want to dive in and and grab a slice to taste all that sweet creamy goodness. All her cakes are made from scratch and are able to be made vegan friendly in a nut free kitchen. We adore the retro look and the gorgeous combinations of colours – there’s such a joy and an invitation to eat in each of her creations, that you can’t but help smile – and that’s how a wedding cake should be after all!
And is there no end to her talent? Zee is also a caterer and with our Spring weather warming up you might consider a picnic wedding celebration under some leafy trees or by the beach, with her delectable offerings of party classics and sweet treats (a Zee Scott Wagon Wheel anyone?) to fill rumbling stomachs. All offered to you wth the ‘Zee Scott flair’!
We asked Zee of Zee Scott five questions in five minutes:
Weddings are the best to work on because….
Weddings are such a fun event, full of love! Often the excitement and joy of the couple envelopes me too. You feel like you’re part of a special crew, creating a mega event that is about to be unleashed on your guests!
What is something people would be surprised to know about your job or something that challenges you about your job?
I think people are often surprised at how long it takes for me to complete a cake. It’s often quicker than they think… not because it’s ‘easy’ but because I have been doing this a looong time. Sometimes experience = speed!
What is it about the creative process that you most enjoy?
That moment I am stood in front of a blank cake ‘canvas’. It’s in that moment that my creative juices start to flow and I allow myself dream. To fall into a creative void … when I ‘come to’… there’s a buttercream creation there in front of my eyes!
What are you hilariously bad at?
Admin! HA. I’m a performance artist… One day I’ll have a general Manager/PA who will manage that side and I can spend more time ‘dreaming’ in front of a cake!
When you were small what did you dream of being and where have those dreams taken you?
From the moment I could talk, my Mother thrust me into the world of performance art. I am an actor, a dancer, a singer… I loved every minute in that environment between the ages of 8 and 30 years! My experience in the Arts has been both on stage and backstage and via my work within the Arts, I have travelled around the world!
I like to think of my cakes as ‘visual’ pieces of art and my role as a Celebrant allows me to continue living out my dreams of ‘treading the boards’!
‘All the world’s a stage’ … and all that jazz!
