South Australia actually sparkles when it comes to designers of white gowns. And today? We’re introducing you to some of the South Aussie designers we know and love.
South Australian designers have their own distinct style, there is a chic elegance about them, but it’s never boring. No, these designers bring a sense of whimsy, of the unexpected to their pieces and oh how they do it well. Let us introduce some of our picks!
Adelaide designer Greta Kate creates her couture wedding gown designs out of her Norwood studio. Greta has a sophistication about her work, and a love of texture and beautiful fabrics. Greta, who launched her label in 2010, works one on one with her clients to create beautiful pieces that suit their unique style. But you’re going to want to check out her collections too, the fabrics she’s chosen are only the beginning of what you’ll fall in love with.

Next on our list, is Alexis George. Pat and George Georgiou, who have been creating beautiful wedding gowns since the 80s, pride themselves on their beautiful attention to detail. These are gowns designed with decadence in mind. Beautiful laces, beaded fabrics and unique silhouettes. Designer Pat is led by the beauty of the fabrics she uses, with each gown made on the premises by hand, right in Adelaide.

To us, the sign of an amazing brand is how they evolve, and if Adelaide could ever pay homage to a designer, it would be Caleche. This is a brand that was born way back in Adelaide in 1973 by designer Colette Foubert and has succeeded and flourished even well after her passing. Caleche, who both design and make their gowns in Adelaide (Norwood to be specific) design beautiful gowns completely of the moment one on one with their clientele. The tradition of European style designs lives on with the next generation protecting Colette’s vision.
