After having to postpone their wedding for an entire year due to COVID Dani & Lenny were finally able to say “I Do” with all their family and friends in tow at their black, white & blush modern wedding at Quat Quatta. Jessica Abby Photography captured their day, which was filled with joy and lots of love and dancing. Dani tells us how Lenny proposed and remembers their perfect day…

How we met is nothing too exciting, unfortunately! We were both at the same party and met there. We went on a date a few weeks later for drinks  (probably the longest date we have ever been on!) and then the rest is history.

As for how we got engaged, it was the end of the week, I had gotten home from work and Lenny was waiting in the backyard. We recently had adopted our two beautiful fur babies Roxy and Darcy. Lenny had gotten their name tags engraved and asked me to check the tags. Roxy was sitting down starring at me, I checked the tag and it said ‘will you marry me?’ It was quite a surprise!

Lenny wore a classic black and white suit from Calibre. To be honest, he didn’t have much of a choice – black and white was the perfect option and suited the theme of our day. It was all about a timeless look and he looked very sharp!

I wanted a dress that was modern, timeless, and chic! It was a strapless A-line dress with a sculptured back feature, in a structured plain fabric as I felt the silhouette and details on the gown did all the talking. Georgia Young is so lovely and talented! She created a custom bodice that captured the look I was after perfectly.

I walked down the aisle to “Sleeping At Last” by Turning Page. The ceremony was actually pretty nerve-racking, but also really special. We were married at St. Brendan’s Church in Flemington and our priest got the crowd involved which was also a highlight and a few laughs!

Flowers played such a big part in our day – they really set the scene and added instant beauty! We went with classic white reflexed roses for the bouquets by Basia Pulchaski, who also did the flowers and decor for our ceremony and reception.

Our photographer, Jessica Abby, is amazing! She is so relaxed and takes the most beautiful effortless photos. We were both so nervous and taking these photos (it definitely didn’t come natural to us) but she made it an absolute breeze. We love how she captured the day and all the emotions!

We were so lucky with the weather! Our original date in 2020, while we were in lockdown, was miserable, icy and 12 degrees and rained ALL DAY! Who would have thought one year later it would be 24 degrees, sunny and not a raindrop in sight. Thanks Melbourne!

Relaxing with the girls and my parents before the big day, and then having a relaxed afternoon with Lenny & our wedding party with cocktails and delicious food at the Ripponlea Food & Wine Bar before the big party started were some of my favourite parts of the day!

Our favourite photo is a hard one to pick – Jessica captured so many that we love! Our favourite might be ones that the Quat Quatta of the two of us It’s a beautiful venue. We fell in love with it straight away. The food and service is great!

At Quat Quatta we wanted to continue a romantic yet moody autumnal vibe. The arrangements had a range of roses, orchids and a mix of foliage in white, nude, soft blush and deep plums. Our florist Basia Pulchaski did the most incredible job at styling the venue and creating beautiful flower arrangements.

We had an area dedicated to our grandparents who could not be there to celebrate with us, there were black and white photos of them, complimented by Basia’s flowers and candles.

We were both very nervous about our first dance, so we wanted something a little upbeat with words that meant a lot to us, so we chose “Just You and I” by Tom Walker.

The atmosphere at our reception was amazing – there was a buzz in the air! Having everyone that is important to us, in one room celebrating and being able to celebrate as a covid free wedding! We were so lucky!

Some of my thoughts for couples planning their wedding! Try to relax throughout the day and enjoy it. Everyone says it goes so quick but it really does go so fast – it’s important to pause and take it all in! At the venue take a moment with your partner as it’s such a special time. Lastly, have water with you before the ceremony! It helps the nerves!

Thank you to the lovely Dani & Lenny for giving us a glimpse into their gorgeous day! And to Jessica Abby Photography and Basia Puchalski for sharing it with us…
