For an epic intimate wedding, you’d be hard-pressed to find a location more perfect than one of New Zealand’s majestic mountain tops. The ideal spot for an elopement that steals your breath and your heart, all in one. Anna & Rueban’s romantic mountain top elopement does both! Captured exquisitely by Felix Image, the duo needed little more than a helicopter, a celebrant, and a photographer to make their wedding dreams a reality.

Anna remembers how she and Rueban came to be. “Rueban and I met five years ago. We both have a love for travel, we do everything together and always have. Our wedding was romantic & wild, at the top of Mount Crichton in Queenstown.”

We rescheduled our elopement for a day later than originally planned due to heavy rain in Queenstown. Then, on the day the weather was cloudy and we were supposed to go to another mountain top, but the clouds are too low and we can’t land the helicopter – flown by Heliworks. After we talked with the experienced pilot, we decided to go to Mt Crichton (Big Geordie) which may have had more chance of a clear sky, and yes! We got lucky! When we landed the sun came out of the clouds and we were so excited. The clouds still hung around the edge of the mountain and we had the stunning view up to the head of Lake Wakatipu, looking over Pig & Pigeon Islands for our ceremony, performed by Philippa Thomas. We absolutely loved the intimacy of the day.

I wore a gown by Oneday Wedding Studio, and my hair and makeup were done by Yuki Makeup. I held a bouquet of proteas with rustic-inspired greenery from The Flower Room.

Our photographer, Felix Image, was so professional and enthusiastic on the day, and we adore our photos.

It really is just about the two of you making a vow to be together. It’s important to remember why you’re really doing it. A small, personal elopement can be just as memorable as a large one with all the trimmings.

Thank you to the lovely Anna & Rueban for sharing their intimate wedding with us, and to Felix Image for the stunning images!
