Autumn days are our very favourite around here and the Autumnal tones of Kylie and Damien’s sparkling day are just about everything an Autumn lover’s hearts desires. Autumn leaves, sparkling details (wait until you see Kylie’s gorgeous gown) stunning blooms, plenty of good food and wine,  and a venue that is completely unique (just what The Venue Issue ordered) settle in for this one, it’s a stunner!

Captured by the ever-talented Gold and Grit Photography, Kylie and Damien’s story began as a solid friendship. “I lived in London for a couple of years and we used to skype for hours at a time despite the time difference” remembers Kylie. “After I returned to Australia, a few months later Damien went overseas for a holiday, it was only after he returned from that trip, that my feelings towards him started to change – much to my shock as we had been friends for such a long time before that. It was later revealed that he had feelings towards me longer than I had known!” Sometime later, Damien popped the question over a Kinder Surprise egg and today? We are so very lucky to be able to share their story!

How stunning are the bouquets? They’re beautifully styled by Anouk Flowers. Kylie noting “Holly from Anouk Flowers was recommended to us by our venue. After seeing her Instagram page, we loved what she did and booked her straight away.

She was fantastic to work with and very reasonably priced! We gave her complete creative control over the flowers, I just provided the colour palette and some mood board pictures and she did the rest. I also bought some beautiful silk ribbons for her to wrap around the flowers. I gave her some images of the individual bridesmaid dresses (as they were all different) and the ribbons I had bought to match each dress so she could create a unique bouquet for each bridesmaid.”

Marrying in Autumn meant limited light, so these two met before their ceremony for a first look with their photographer. There is nothing but rave reviews from Kylie and Damien for both decisions! “Stina from Gold & Grit Photography was fabulous to work within the lead up to the wedding and on the day. We felt pretty awkward about having our photos taken throughout the day but she made us feel super relaxed. She also made sure she took us away for little moments throughout the day so we could enjoy some time together and take it all in (while she took a few snaps at the same time!) and they are some of my most favourite photos.”

Kylie and Damien chose Projekt3488 for their wedding, The bride telling  “Projekt 3488 is the most incredible venue! Before moving to Melbourne, we had found a venue in Byron where we were going to get married. One day, just out of interest, I started to look at wedding venues in the Yarra Valley. When I saw the photos of Projekt 3488 online, I fell in love instantly, called them straight away to book a visit for that coming weekend. As soon as we saw the venue, there was absolutely no question that this was the venue for us! We booked it that same weekend and it completely changed everything about our wedding!”

Kylie walked down the aisle to Jose Gonzales “Heartbeats” on the arm of her father.

“We wanted to have a really intimate and relaxed ceremony,” tells Kylie, of the decision to have Andrew Redman officiate their vows.

And the icing on the wedding cake? Today we get to share the film of this sparkling celebration captured by Annette & Dani.
