Grab a cocktail, because Linda and Matt, the stars of today’s show, celebrated their wedding at not just one, but two Perth city bars. And oh do they have all the trimmings – the neon signs, the champagne towers, the floral arch, the restored ‘just for the wedding’ motorcycle, their four legged friend!

There are so many stories, so many moments and each and every one was beautifully captured by the ever-talented Simone Addison Photography. Colour tones of gold, orange and teal weaving their way throughout the details, each a contrast to the urban grit of Perth’s city streets.

After meeting on Tinder and falling head over heels for one another, Matt decided to pop the question one long weekend, perhaps, though, under the influence of cold & flu medication, admits Linda. “We were both incredibly sick with the flu but it was the WA long weekend and we wanted to make the most of it so we persevered and took our dog for a hike up in the hills of Perth. We loaded ourselves up on Codral and set out from the car park with our dog in tow looking forward to the promising beautiful view of the city from the top. Exhausted but excited we finally reached the top platform where Matt turns to me and asked how long we have been together which I answered 3 and a bit with low enthusiasm. He proceeds to get down on one knee to which I romantically exclaimed ‘F#%k Off!’ He smirks at me which I only know too well when he’s up to something and pulls out a ring box and the full gravity of the moment comes down on me.

At this part of the story, I throw my dog’s poop bag into some nearby shrubs and my unamused dog has become bored of being in one place for too long and has begun sulking trying to get all of us to continue on our hike. I look back at Matt and his obviously nervous but still trying to smirk face asks me to marry him and with shaking words I say yes and fall to my knees as we hug and cry in glee for a good 4 minutes. After he puts the ring on me we get whisked out of our little moment by our still waiting dog which obviously has no idea about the beautiful moment we just shared and is now rudely pulling at his leash. We both laugh at the situation and began looking through the shrubs for the poo bag I threw before we all descended back to the car park and took more Codrals.”

Let’s talk about the groom’s look. Linda shares  “My now husband hired his suits from Suit Vault in Subiaco and for the groomsmen, he chose black dress shoes and pants with a dark drey jacket and for himself the same but with a much lighter grey jacket so he could stand out like me.”

The gown experience was not at all smooth sailing for this bride until she found Brides By Design. “My wedding dress experience was tainted full of covid disruptions and delays until we stumbled upon Brides by Design in Perth. They gave us such an intimate and lovely experience with such a knowledgeable assistant and they also had their seamstress there that could alter on site.

My mother is one of the most stylish people I know so when it came to my wedding dress I turned to no one other than her. That and my maid of honour was more of a bridesman of honour so I can rely on him to have my back whenever but not really when it comes to fashion.”

Linda and Matt met for a first look, of course, in a cocktail bar!

These two loved working with their photographer. “We chose Simone Addison as our wedding photographer because I love her candid style and warming personality and it was the best wedding decision. She was so bubbly and lovely and made two very awkward people look flawless in photos. The photos she took of our dog are by far my most treasured photos of him and we received nothing but compliments about her and her photos.”

The ceremony was held in the sunshine at Heritage Wine Bar.

Linda walked down the aisle alone to an instrumental version of “Sweet Disposition”.

Linda’s advice to you? “At the end of the day all you need is you, your significant other a celebrant and a witness – everything else is just extra.”

Linda and Matt were married by Kiss Me You Fool Marriage Celebrant. “Our ceremony was intimate and full of tears. We had Dilhari from Kiss me you fool which was an absolute delight! She asked us what we wanted and we said something warm and fun and we left the rest up to her and she delivered.

We were met by applause rather than silence and short sweet readings from our friends and families during the ceremony which made it feel so much more interactive and intimate. The ceremony was one of the main highlights of my wedding day which was surprising cause I was nervous about saying my vows.”

“We had hundreds of photos of our wedding day but one makes me laugh every time and it’s Matt and I at the wedding ceremony blowing our noses in front of everyone trying to compose ourselves in front of Dilhari from the emotional rollercoaster of our vows. Thank god my bridesman of honour had tissues!”

The flowers, styled by Urban & Wild Co, honoured a very special magnolia tree. Says Linda “Our colour palette was greens, cream and gold. Matt bought me a Magnolia tree for Valentine’s day two years ago and I fell in love with the big cream flowers and dark glossy green foliage so when it came to the florals we couldn’t go past them. The main pop of colours were the bridal parties having splashes of peach in their arrangements.”

Spot that motorcycle? It was Matt’s pet project in the leadup to the wedding. “Matt decided to restore his motorcycle for our wedding day” explains Linda. “He started five months out with no experience as well as no license so the drama this created was astronomical. I could write a book about all the stories but when everything was done and dusted and he managed to pull another one out of thin air always to my amazement it was so worth it!

We had it parked right outside our ceremony venue so he could show it off and the photos and videos looked amazing!”

As darkness fell, guests joined the newlyweds for a sit-down dinner reception at The Stables Bar.

The couple chose to hire Heart & Soul Events Co to help their day come to life, a decision they don’t regret one bit! Remembers Linda “I was one of those girls that couldn’t wait to plan their own wedding until they had to and it became a nightmare. A literal nightmare I had one night was that there were no flowers on the wedding arbour at the ceremony which is something really stupid to stress about.

Diana and Agi were our wedding planners from Heart and Soul Events Co. and it really felt like they would pull down the sun and moon for us. They were so lovely and on top of everything with answers to my every question that put an anxious and stressed bride at ease at the peak of the covid pandemic!”

For their first dance, Linda and Matt chose “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You” by Craymer, AIIVAWN.

A big congratulations to you Linda and Matt! Thank you for sharing your beautiful wedding with us. Thanks also to Simone Addison Photography for sharing today’s stunning celebration.
