Bring on a new week and bring on incredible wedding day style inspo – today thanks to New York designers Markarian.
Inspired by the drama, the detail and the luxe style of late Renaissance portraiture, and the classic silhouettes of the 1950’s, the brand new Spring/Summer 2022 collection mixes old and new and is designed to be both versatile and fresh, while honouring old-world elegance. There are stunning silk organza floral appliqués, beautiful jacquards, laces based with shimmering pearls, duchess silk that almost glows and details that add a sense of timeless femininity.
“Yvetta” one of our picks, made of the aforementioned glowing duchess silk, features off the shoulder puff sleeves, somehow looking both at home in the Renaissance picture, as it would walking down the aisle in 2021. The “Circe” bow gown, another pick, with bow arm detail adding a sense of playfulness to an otherwise classic silhouette.
This is a flexible collection – midi and mini gowns, next to jackets and ballgowns. It really is, whatever you want it to be. Especially when you add the brand’s signature accessories – a curated collaboration with Gigi Burris Millinery, a brand designed to keep the craft of millinery alive. Says designer Gigi ““Gigi Burris Millinery and Markarian are dedicated to responsible, local and handmade production in New York City. A natural partnership between two female founders, we both share an appreciation for exquisite technique and attention to detail.”
The pieces are available for pre-order now, each handmade in New York. Find your dream piece by hitting up the Markarian website here.
