Servicing Sydney, to the Northern Tablelands or the Mid North Coast of NSW with her floral genius, Cassandra Kempster-Roberts is a florist whose arrangements are a touch wild, a touch unusual and always beautiful. With an emphasis on using no floral foam at all, or chemical bleach or dyed flowers, her arrangements are lush – “Think overgrown, abundant, romantic, rambling botanicals, where curling tendrils and arching stems are the heroes.” Just letting nature do its thing with stunning colour and foliage combinations, Cassandra’s arrangements really do enhance your wedding decor to perfection.

We asked Cassandra of Cassandra Kempster-Roberts five questions in five minutes:

Weddings are the best to work on…

Because you’re helping people celebrate their love. Whatever size or style of wedding, however big or small your role, that’s a special thing to be part of.

What is something people would be surprised to know about your job or something that challenges you about your job?

People may be surprised at how good you need to be at loading a van as a florist!

What is it about the creative process that you most enjoy?

Of the creative process, the part I most enjoy is where I’m physically making with flowers and foliage. In those moments, you’re bringing a mood/feeling/style/idea into a tangible form with nature.

What are you hilariously bad at?

I’m hilariously bad at cartwheels and handstands. Never mastered either of those school playground staples. Thankfully, I’ve not yet needed these as a florist/adult.

When you were small what did you dream of being and where have those dreams taken you?

When I was small, I dreamed of being a news reader, archaeologist, artist… the list probably goes on! Funnily enough, as much as I loved plants and nature as a kid, it was years (and a different career path) before the penny dropped as to what I really would love to do for the rest of my life and I re-trained as a florist.
