Whether you’re looking to get crafty making something for your girlfriends, or you need a peppy new step in your self care routine for 2021 (Happy New Year!), this scented salt scrub is a winner! You can simplify this right down, or get your nose on sniffing out gorgeous foliage. Whichever way you choose to go about it, your body will thank you for this luxurious, natural and easy to make treatment.

What You Will Need:

  • 1 cup of salts – I’ve used magnesium epsom salts
  • 1/4 cup carrier oil – I’ve used half coconut and half jojoba which I scented with a peppermint geranium foliage. This step is included in the tutorial, however, you can substitute this for 6-12 drops of essential oils
  • Extra bits and bobs – I’ve used dried lavender from the garden. You could also use dried herbs or petals, or even coffee!
  • Glass jars to decant into, mixing bowl and spoon

Step 1. If you’re wanting to go all out, find some scented foliage (e.g. lavender or scented geranium), and chop it up. I’ve used peppermint geranium. Place it into a glass jar (top tip – check the glass jar for cracks before doing this), then pour the jojoba oil over the top. You can substitute olive or almond oil here. Pop the oil in a dark and cool place, and leave for 4-6 weeks. Otherwise, use essential oils in the salt mix.

Step 2. Gather the rest of the ingredients, and your clean jars to decant into. Mix the salts and oils together. The finer the salt you use, the more the ingredients will combine.

Step 3. Add in any extra bits and bobs you’ve chosen. We had some sweet smelling lavender from the garden, so chopped it up finely and added it to the salt scrub mix.

Step 4. Decant the salt scrub into your chosen jars. The oil will settle towards the bottom, so wrapping the scrub with a mini spoon is a good idea. This way, your recipients can mix the treatment when they use it.

Step 5. Seal the lids tightly, and wrap the jars. I’ve rolled them in paper, tucked in their bottoms, then finished them with twine. You can write a tag with the ingredient list and instructions on how to use the scented salt scrub, making these the loveliest gifts for bridesmaids, pals and yourself alike!
