Shannon & Jordan
Styling wise, boho and rustic go together like gin and tonic, like cheese and wine, like…you get the idea. Today’s wedding marries the two beautifully, with a side of overwhelming joy! Set in Baxter’s Barn, Shannon and Jordan threw a party that lasted well into the night, and we can’t wait to show you more! Perla Photography captured the day.
Having met in 2014 at a house party, the bride and groom became inseparable. Shannon tells, ”Jordan proposed to me at the finish line for the Melbourne Marathon in 2017. As I crossed the finish line he dropped his knee and had my friends holding signs saying ‘Will you marry me?”
Wearing a Grace Loves Lace gown, the bride knew the brand would be just right for her style. She shares, ”It fitted the theme and vibe of our wedding. I bought my dress at a Melbourne Grace Loves Lace sample sale. It was crazy in there, like something out of a movie! I went to the Gold Coast to have the full bridal experience and loved every second of it. The Grace Loves Lace team had the dress ready for me and helped me pick my accessories. Both the bridesmaids and flower girls wore jumpsuits from Sheike.” The groom and groomsmen wore Politix suits, while the page boy wore a suit from Bardot Junior.
Bringing the rustic elements, Baxter Barn provided a relaxed, outdoor space with boho details. Shannon remembers, ”Baxter Barn was the only venue we viewed. We fell in love with its vibe and atmosphere straight away! The staff were so supportive and amazing throughout the whole experience! We wanted it to be fun, relaxed and with rustic vibes.” The bride and groom put their hands to a little DIY, crafting the invitations, signage, the bride’s garter and the ring pillow.
Arriving in vintage kombi vans, the bridal party were beaming! Shannon shares, ”The ceremony was full of laughter, fun and relaxed vibes. We didn’t include any readings and we wrote our own vows.” Once out of the kombi, the bride walked down the aisle to ‘Simple Things’ by Ziggy Alberts with her father. Michelle Davis Civil Celebrant led the service.
Native flowers added a burst of colour to the rustic themes, in shades of red, yellow and blue. The bride tells, ”Berwick Flowers did the bouquets and buttonholes. They were amazing throughout the whole experience and delivered on time on the day! Woops a Daisy Florist styled the wedding venue with flowers. They styled the whole venue beautifully. Berwick Flowers and Woops a Daisy worked together to make sure the flowers match. I didn’t even organise this they just contacted each other! Great team work. I made sure that my Grandad’s necklace was on my bouquet the whole time.”
Embracing the unpredictable weather, Shannon and her girls grabbed umbrellas when the rain fell. She remembers, ”When I was getting ready Baxter Barn called and said that they had to move the ceremony inside because of rain. Instead of getting upset my bridesmaids and I went outside and danced in the rain. Forty minutes later I got a phone call saying that the sun was out and they were moving everything back outside for me. The weather is something you can’t control so dance in the rain with your loved ones and enjoy your day.”
Perla Photography captured the rain and sunshine, and all of the fun in between! Shannon was thrilled with their photos, saying, ”Where do I even start with Perla Photography – SHE IS AMAZING! She makes you feel so comfortable. I sent her the style of photos I wanted and she got every shot I asked for and more. She was on time and made the day so fun, I want to do it all over again!” Rachael Mary Films filmed the day.
Favourite moments of the wedding party were plentiful, with Shannon and Jordan remembering, ”Our sparkle send off. Sam our emcee sang Bohemian Rhapsody to get everyone on the dance floor, plus soaker boxes at the end of the night. Every guest got a box of takeaway to take home with them. Baxter Barn made sure that we had a car full of takeaway boxes to have on our way home from the wedding.”
Staying on the dance floor all night long, the newlyweds first dance was to ‘Valerie’ by Amy Winehouse. Shannon shares, ”We picked this song because when we first started dating we song it in the car together on the way to the city. Our first dance was to the acoustic version however to get everyone on the dance floor straight away it transitioned into the Mark Ronson version.”
Thank you so much to our gorgeous bride and groom for sharing your beautiful wedding day with us! Thank you also to Perla Photography for your stunning images.

Her bouquet is beautiful but I think I like the grooms’ bow tie even more than the bouquet.
