So many wedding journeys start with a very special piece of jewellery, and this week on Behind the Door I’m so excited to meet Adelaide-based designer, Cassandra Mamone.
Cassandra describes her jewellery aesthetic as unmistakable, it’s all about on trend yet timeless pieces and a passion for mixing the unique with refined, classic craftsmanship. A perfectionist with the desire to create jewellery that will be forever cherished, Cassandra has developed a reputation for sourcing only the finest materials to work with, from the purest white diamonds to the most radiant semi precious stones.
“I’m inspired by my travels, people notice this as soon as they look at my collections,” says Cassandra. “I usually think about what I would like to wear and the piece that I’d like to make for myself. I love looking at the diamond shapes and creatively thinking about innovative ways I can set them to create an elegant and exquisite piece.”
The Cassandra Mamone studio is in the heart of Adelaide, but away from the hustle and bustle, part of the quieter East End. “We’ve been here for four years and I just love the environment surrounding the area, ” says Cassandra. “There are so many great cafes and restaurants around and the people are very friendly”. At the end of the street, the studio is surrounded by a beautiful park and clients love the area is central and easy for them to park. Cassandra says she feels very lucky to be able to work the area.
The studio is where the magic happens. Behind the black door is a bright light-filled studio. It’s a calm and welcoming space available for appointments where Cassandra and the talented design consultants create dream engagement and wedding rings, fine jewellery and special occasion gifting. Available by appointment only, it’s a fantastic opportunity for clients to discover the unique collections, try on their favourite pieces and create their own one-of-a-kind custom ring.
“During the consultation, we will chat with them about their preferred styles and materials,” says Cassandra. “For clients who are not able to visit our studio, we offer one-on-one virtual appointments via phone calls, Skype or FaceTime”. All pieces are made specially to order and I love the signature gold and white ring boxes!
In March 2020, Cassandra made her dream a reality when she opened a second lush studio in Melbourne, this time choosing trendy Prahran. “At the moment, the Melbourne studio is closed due to COVID-19,” says Cassandra, “But we are positive that we will be back soon enough and able to have our Melbourne clients visiting us again.”
I ask Cassandra what her favourite part of working on weddings is and she says she loves meeting new clients and gets really excited about designing the special piece that they will have forever.
“Some of my clients have become my closest friends and getting to witness their love from the initial consultation to their wedding day is pretty amazing,” says Cassandra. “It’s amazing to create something from an idea, source the diamond, design the piece, create it and then see their happiness when they collect it, it’s honestly the best part.”
