Leaning in to a love of colour, Amy and Dean threw a gorgeous waterside wedding in Sydney, absolutely bubbling with bright colours! Wearing a clean cut Carolina Herrera gown, with bridesmaids in pink Alice McCall jumpsuits, the rain couldn’t stop the sheer amount of joy generated on this day. Maple and June captured every moment.
Having met on a night out in the city of Sydney, the bride and groom caught each others eyes at the bar. The rest, as they say, is history! Amy shares, ”After dating for seven years Dean proposed at a beautiful lookout while on a mini vacay in Forster. He had a stunning ring which he had made at Jules Collins Jewellery! It was a beautiful day celebrating together at the beach doing what we both love!”
Not exactly what the bride had in mind when first looking, the tailored and clean Carolina Herrera gown caught her eye. She tells, ”My dress was not what I expected but when I tried it on I fell in love! I got it from David Jones. I went to two other dress shops and had great experiences at all of them. The dress was comfortable and classic. I wore the veil both my sisters wore at their wedding. I also wore two headbands – one pearl and one pink Swarovski. They were by Viktoria Novak – Viktoria handmade these for me and I absolutely loved them. The girls wore Alice McCall jumpsuits and dress. I didn’t mind if they wore the dress or jumpsuit! The pattern grabbed my attention early on in our wedding planning and they were one of the first things I purchased! Even before my own dress! Dean wore a blue Uber Stone suit. The jacket had a small pink check which matched with the bridesmaids floral dresses and my headband. He wore a fun bowtie from Peggy & Finn!”
Planning the wedding day all fell into place when Amy and Dean visited Pier One Sydney Harbour. They remember, ”Being summer we wanted someone outdoors and by the water. Once we went to Pier One the view was stunning and we both said yes instantly! It was also a great size space for our guests. We wanted fun, happy and bright! A celebration of our love!”
The rain changed the exact details of the ceremony, however it was no less heartfelt or beautiful. Amy shares, ”Our ceremony was perfect. Haley from Love Notes Ceremonies was the perfect celebrant. It had a calm, relaxed and happy feel! Chris from Love Notes Ceremonies played and sung live at our ceremony and was also an AMAZING touch! We both wrote our own vows which were so special and nice to hear on the day. One of my sisters did a reading. We had our mums bring forward our rings and both our dads were our witnesses and signed our certificate. Both our families are so important to us and we wanted to include them! I chose the song ‘Songbird’, a song that both my dad and I love. Dad walked me down the aisle.”
Having a ‘plan B’ in place paid of for the bride and groom, with some summer rain falling. The bride remembers, ”We planned to get married outside on the pier. It rained that day so we were fortunate enough to have a back up plan of a marquee set up outdoors. During the ceremony our celebrant Haley announced a surprise guest – it was a bird flying down the aisle! Luckily my brother in law Dave helped get it out of the marquee!” The flowers were bright pops of colour, and Amy was thrilled with the results. She tells, ”I wanted something bright and fun. I showed a few photos to Wild Bunch Glenhaven and she recreated these perfectly on the day! I absolutely loved the bouquets and flowers at the ceremony and reception! The colours were fun!”
Sydney kept dry to allow for some city wandering, with Maple and June capturing the bridal party in the city. Amy tells, ”Zoe photographed my sisters wedding and after meeting her there and seeing their stunning photos I didn’t look for anyone else. She was quick to answer any questions I had and was fun and relaxed to be with on the day. I would recommend ALL of my vendors! They were all amazing and helped make our day perfect.”
Family was honoured and celebrated throughout the wedding, continuing to the reception. The couple tell, ”Our bridal table was a long king table that included our bridal parties partners. We wanted everyone to feel comfortable and have a fun time with the people they loved. Dean’s sister was our MC and she sat with us on the bridal table as well.”
Kicking off the party as soon as they arrived, Amy and Dean danced their first dance to ‘You Are The Best Thing’ by Ray Lamontage. They remember, ”We were both a bit nervous about the first dance so decided to do it first thing! Dean and I entered to the song and went straight to the dancefloor. We danced to the first chorus and then our MC invited everyone up to join us! It was a great, fun way to start the reception.”
The flower petal covered cake from Sugar Pot was a stunning masterpiece, covered in varying shades of pink and orange. Dear Vincent captured the Sydney harbour wedding, as Amy shared her number one favourite thing from the day was, ”Marrying my best friend.”
Thank you to our beautiful bride and groom for sharing your gorgeous wedding day with us, and congratulations! Thank you also to Maple and June and Dear Vincent for your stunning imagery.
