We’ve got all the sunshine, all the bright and beautiful charm today as we join Clare and Jordan’s beautiful blush & apricot garden wedding at the ever beautiful Byron Bay venue Fig Tree Byron Bay.
And look, if there ever was a list of lovelies which would ask us to be added to the guest list – it would be exactly what these two included. Fresh oysters and bubbles, a view overlooking the rolling green hinterland, cocktails by the pool, flowers everywhere and an after-party full of the best kind of dancing. Clare? Turns out she agrees, describing the big day as “Colourful, fun & relaxed with lots of laughing, drinking, eating and dancing!” And isn’t that what we’re all going to need come 2021? Take all the inspiration you need from these two thanks to their wedding photos caught by Figtree Pictures.
It was the festive season, on a nightclub dancefloor that Clare and Jordan first laid eyes on one another. Their first date, followed by a five-month pause as Jordan set off on an around the world adventure. It was another few months before they finally managed a second date – which was set for when Clare, herself returned from her overseas adventure.
And because these two, are all about adventures, it makes sense that Jordan waited for another one to ask Clare to marry him. She tells “Jordan proposed while we were on a trip in America. We had a hire car and had just visited the Muir Woods and were driving towards the Napa Valley. He pulled off to the side of the road and said he wanted to take a selfie – Jordan hates taking pictures so I knew something was up! At a beautiful lookout spot, he got down on one knee and asked. He had even organised dinner at a restaurant in Napa Valley for that evening.”
Jordan wanted a very classic and simple look, choosing a deep navy MJ Bale suit and matching bowtie.
I know you’re going to be lusting after Clare’s pink jacket! She made it herself, using a pink jacket from Asos and adding iron on letters from eBay.
That beautiful wedding gown? Clare found it her Erin Clare Bridal frock at White Lily Couture. “I bought my dress at the fourth dress shop I went to. Up until that day I thought I wanted a plain dress with a big tulle skirt. I ended up choosing a sequined, tight-fitting dress! As soon as I put it on I knew that it was the one. I bought my Erin Clare gown from White Lily in Brisbane and as the designer was located in Noosa, I was able to have all of my fittings and even some custom alterations with the designer herself. Erin was so amazing to work with and she brought my dream dress and veil to life!”
The beautiful venue of Fig Tree Byron Bay set the scene for Clare & Jordan’s big day, Clare explaining “I had seen Fig Tree Restaurant on Instagram years ago and known that it was where I wanted to get married. When we got engaged I showed it to Jordan, we went and visited, and he loved it just as much as I did.
Fig Tree is located on a hill just outside of Byron Bay. It has a beautiful view overlooking the Byron Bay lighthouse and the ocean. Their staff are amazing, and they cook local, delicious food.”
Clare and Jordan chose Byron Bay Double Deckers to transport guests to and from! the wedding, leading to one of their very favourite memories of the day. Tells the bride “Jordan and I planned an after-party in Byron Bay for after our reception. Us and all our guests rode the amazing double-decker bus into town to continue the celebrations. That bus ride, singing, laughing and awkwardly dancing in the aisles was a highlight of the night.”
The bride chose “XO” by John Mayer and Beyonce to play as she walked down the aisle with her father.
Clare & Jordan chose Michelle Shannon to officiate their ceremony, saying “We wanted a simple, relaxed, fun ceremony. We didn’t have any readings but our celebrant Michelle did an amazing job of telling our love story to our family and friends. We wrote our vows as we wanted to make realistic promises to each other that related to our relationship and what we want from our marriage. We were able to hug and whisper to each other throughout the ceremony and this made us feel loved, happy and comfortable. Our ceremony was a highlight of our day.”
“Sit down together at the start of your planning and discuss what is important to you both” advises Clare. “Then you can make sure that you prioritise those things in your budget and planning. Also, don’t choose styles or ideas because they are trendy, choose things that you will still love when you look back on your day in years to come.”
Guests enjoyed a poolside cocktail hour while the newlyweds took off for their photos. Clare sharing “I loved all of our vendors! I researched a lot to make sure that they were all amazing. The staff and service at Fig Tree Restaurant went above and beyond though.”
Clare and Jordan chose Wilderness Flowers to create the lush floral arrangements for the day. “I love flowers and wanted them to be fun and colourful. My florist, Mikarla, from Wilderness Flowers, is absolutely amazing. I sent her some inspiration pictures and totally trusted that they would be perfect – which they were.”
Researching was Clare’s favourite part of the planning. “I loved looking through magazines, wedding blogs and Pinterest to find ideas. I found it especially useful to look at photos of real weddings to see actually achievable ideas.”
“Our photographers from Figtree Wedding Photography were amazing. They made us feel comfortable in front of the camera and listened to any ideas that we had. They got a great range of photos from posed ones to candid ones.”
Ditching a traditional guestbook, Clare and Jordan chose a ‘guest globe!’ “We had guests sign a vintage world globe instead of a guest book. It now sits in our house and reminds me of our amazing day whenever I see it.”
Dinner? The guests are still raving about it! “The food and drink were one of the most memorable parts of the night (pumpkin gnocchi and espresso martinis – to name a few)” notes Clare.
The first dance? Utterly romantic tells the bride. “Our first dance was outside, underneath a grapevine and fairy lights, surrounded by our family and friends. We wanted a classic song that wouldn’t go out of style – we chose ‘Stand By Me’ by Ben E King.”
And to cap off this beautiful wedding, we’ve got Clare & Jordan’s beautiful wedding film thanks to GoldBear Wedding Films.
