The following beach inspired playlist has been curated with a wedding in mind and while it includes songs about the beach, sunshine, sand, ocean and related things, it also includes songs that exude that chilled, cruisy, summery vibe we all love. Imagine you are at a beach wedding… The first few songs would be playing during the prelude to the ceremony, perfect while you are enjoying a pre-ceremony cocktail. Commencing with Midnight Oil’s version of ‘Wedding Cake Island’, which describes Australia’s coastline perfectly through music. Whilst the song is an instrumental, part way through, the lyrics “lines of swell round the Byron pass, mate“ can be heard.
The inclusion of Angus & Julia Stone’s ‘The Wedding Song’ is the pick of the bunch for the processional, Conkarah’s reggae version of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Perfect’ is, well, perfect for the signing of the registry and finally, Pharrell Williams’ ‘Happy’, for the up-beat recessional.
The rest of the playlist would continue as guests enjoyed the rest of the afternoon into the early evening and includes something for everyone, familiar and not so familiar tunes, chilled, upbeat, classic and more recent selections because weddings are attended by young and older guests.
