Becca & Joel
A classic, garden wedding in the lush surrounds of New Zealand was designed by Becca and Joel, who wanted a family focussed celebration. With cultural elements and no less than EIGHT wedding cakes (we are in awe!), plus one detailed gingerbread house, this celebration is full of heart! Photographer Chasewild captured their day.
Joel pursued Becca, telling of how they met, ”There’s no special story, but I did ask Becca out about three times before she said yes to going on a date with me.” The proposal story is as dreamy as they come, with Becca remembering, ”It involved being under a gazebo in a private garden, with petals, a unicorn cake, a globe, a flower crown, music, a letter, and a blue ring.”
The bride wore a lace bodice and tulle skirt gown, complete with a cathedral length veil, edged in lace. It was, Becca shares, ”An ivory dress with french lace that was made just for me.” The groom wore a black suit with bowtie, while the flower girls wore sweet tutus from Tutu Du Monde.
The classic, outdoor ceremony was held in the gardens of The Kelliher Estate. Under an arbour of roses and hydrangeas by Leaf & Honey, Becca and Joel said ‘I do’. Clear perspex signage by Forage & Spruce were draped in blooms while the flower girls sprinkled petals in anticipation of the bride’s arrival.
Dusky pinks and purples framed the garden ceremony beautifully, with these hues carrying on to the bouquet. Becca shares, ”We told Leaf & Honey what our colours were and allowed her to do whatever she wanted basically. She did not disappoint, the flowers were amazing!” The couple, once married, held a traditional Chinese tea ceremony.
Wedding planner Wild & Yellow styled a modern and classic day that suited the newlyweds perfectly. Becca tells, ”Mostly we wanted a wedding that revolved around our families and one that was heartfelt. It was beautiful, private, and big enough for our number of guests.”
Not one, but eight wedding cakes graced Becca and Joel’s epic dessert table! The couple themselves made a beautifully detailed gingerbread replica of the venue, while Moustache provided cookie cakes, The Jellyologist crafted delicate jellies, and Magnolia Kitchen plus The Ku Cakery baked double tier cakes with shards of chocolate and flowers atop.
Thank you to our gorgeous bride and groom for sharing your beautiful wedding day with us, and congratulations! Thank you also to Chasewild for your stunning photos!
