Kristie & Nathan
Kristie and Nathan put together a gorgeous black tie winery wedding for their family and friends, and we can’t wait for you to see it in full! Black, white and blush was the palette, with romantic flowers and the sweetest flower girl to walk the aisle! Wild Romantic Photography captured their day.
The bride and groom met at work, although neither initiated anything even though there was a spark. Kristie remembers, ”A couple of years later Nathan sent me a message on Facebook as he’d seen I’d wished a mutual friend happy birthday. The following day we had our first date, and from there we were pretty much inseparable.” A very sweet proposal followed, Kristie sharing, ”At the time Nathan proposed we had a 1 year old so we didn’t often get time to ourselves. He proposed at home, which was perfect and lovely and suited us both so well as we’re fairly private. I couldn’t stop crying!”
Modern and elegant, both the bride and groom wore clean lines. The bride shares, ”After visiting lots of Melbourne designers our last stop of the day was Cappellazzo Couture, and Sonia made the decision easy for me. I showed her some pictures of dresses I’d liked that she had designed and she draped fabric across me, whipped up a sketch and was able to interpret everything I wanted and also design something that suited my body shape and that I felt comfortable in.” The groom wore a tuxedo from Calibre, the bridesmaids wearing gowns from Misha Collection.
The ceremony was held in the sun dappled gardens of Polperro. Kristie tells, ”We didn’t have a reading as we wanted to keep things fairly short and simple. The song we walked down the aisle to was really emotive and set the tone. The focus was on the heartfelt vows that we had written and our amazing celebrant Di Klienert who I couldn’t recommend highly enough did the best job. She helped with so many details in the planning process that we would have never thought of.” The bride walked down the aisle to a string version of Elvis’ song ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’.
A simple colour palette kept the details modern and classic. Kristie shares, ”I loved planning every detail, and flowers were included in that! I wanted to keep the palette neutral but vary it from just white and green so added in nude and blush tones. I wanted the flowers to make a statement but also not take away from the picturesque setting. I made a whole powerpoint of inspiration for Poppy Culture haha! They were great about it and really put together my vision. Probably the most special thing was having our daughter in the wedding! She was so cute and we got some very special pictures with her when we walked back down the aisle as a married couple.”
Photographer, Elle, from Wild Romantic Photography captured the winery wedding at dusk. The bride says, ”Elle was amazing. She went over and above in every way and our so much love and effort into editing our pictures and worked so hard on the day. My hairdresser Julia, from Hair by Julia Cochrane, was phenomenal. And also our celebrant Di Klienert who I mentioned earlier. She did multiple run throughs with us and checked in regularly to make sure we were on track.”
Knowing that they wanted a modern, black tie event with loads of great food, wine and dancing, Kristie and Nathan hit the jackpot with Polperro. They tell, ”We really wanted ceremony and reception at the same place and the Mornington Peninsula is special to is as we have family there and have spent a lot of time there. A winery was always a great choice and after visiting many Polperro was the number one pick for us. We loved the setting, the restaurant and the food. It was all so beautiful we knew immediately that was where we wanted to get married.”
Choosing some wonderfully classic music, the couples first dance was to Roy Orbison’s ‘You Got It’. Kristie remembers, ”The songs had a lot of meaning and reminded us of our grandparents who are no longer around. Seeing each other for the first time was pretty special, and then once all of the formalities were over we both truly had the best night celebrating with everyone. It was so fun and we wished the night could have lasted longer!”
