The Kangaroo Valley vines provided the perfect spot for Rachel and Brendan to celebrate their wedding day! Classic and elegantly styled, they pulled together every detail for a fun and festive day! Good Thanks Media captured the celebrations.
Highschool sweethearts, the bride and groom both played on the school rugby union team. Rachel remembers, ”It was during a school trip to Dubbo when we started talking and Brendan shared his blanket with me in the grandstand.” Remembering Brendan’s proposal also, she shares, ”He had planned a birthday weekend for me in the Hunter Valley. After a day of wine tasting he surprised me by proposing in front of the fire.”
The bride wore a stunning lace gown from Made With Love Bridal. She shares, ”I saw a photo of it and knew it was my dress. I had five girls (my sister and my four best friends), and Brendan had three guys (his brother and his two best mates). He went for a classic look – black suit, white shirt and tie.”
Melross & Willows Estate was the perfect blank canvas for the bride and groom to create their dream day. Rachel tells, ”We went for a relaxed style and theme. We wanted to have our ceremony and reception all in the one place to create a really relaxed vibe. We did all the decorations ourselves and kept it simple and classic with whites and greens. My brother even made our beautiful wedding arch.”
Underneath the handmade arch which was decorated with flowers, the bride and groom said ‘I do’. They share, ”At our ceremony we had been together 12 and a half years so we wanted to celebrate everything we have done together and also celebrate our family and friends. We wanted to acknowledge the love everyone has shown us, especially our parents.” The bride walked down the aisle to ‘Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher’ by Jackie Wilson.
Photographer Good Thanks Media captured the vineyard wedding in all its beauty! Rachel tells, ”We had so much fun taking our photos. I have so many favourites of Brendan and I from when we were announced married and then when we walked into the reception. The photographers were awesome! They had us laughing all day. They made taking photos lots of fun and it was one of my favourite memories from the wedding.”
The bride and groom stayed on the property at Melross & Willows Estate. Garnish Catering provided a spectacular feast for the newlyweds guests, complete with grazing tables and delectable desserts! Rachel tells, ”They were amazing! The food was phenomenal and the staff were so attentive and checked in with Brendan and I all throughout the night. Our flowers were done by Florry. I just went for a classic look with whites and greens.”
All of the creative touches and decorations came down to the bride and groom’s hard work. They tell, ”We did DIY the reception venue from the set-up (tables, chairs, crockery), table flowers, decorations, ceremony set-up including chairs, flowers and the arch. We included a thank you note on everyone’s plate as we wanted all our guests to also feel special and loved. We are big foodies so we also wanted to make sure there was lots of food so we had a lovely grazing table at the reception. We also had espresso martinis for when the wedding cake came out.”
Including many special details in their vineyard wedding, Rachel shares of one which was particularly special. She remembers, ”I had some bird of paradise flowers in a vase for my grandpa, Edad, who passed away and couldn’t be with us. They are his favourite flowers.” The couple had their first dance to ‘Is This Love’ by Bob Marley.
